Havok (X-Men Movie /First Class Style) Custom Action Figure

Custom #:36352
Name:Havok (X-Men Movie /First Class Style)
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:X-Men - Movies
Creator:blaynescott
Date Added:January 29, 2012
Base Figure:Movie X-Men figure
Height:6.00 inches
This is HAVOK, during this time with the X-Men. He was a 'request', done in a hybrid style that combines the blond actor / chest plate design from X-Men: First Class film with the 1st X-Men movies Leather tactical suit look.
I added a magnet stack under the chest disc, and embedded magnets in 'blasts'.

The chest disc was originally a button, and Havok's head was originally a ML Angel head cast that I sanded down and re-sculpted (with ML Punisher ears) with Aves Apoxie Sculpt to resemble the actor from 'First Class'.
The blasts I created from an extra Mattel 'Blazing Sword' Volton figure, along with Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Painted with Vallejo Silver/Gunmetal, then Citadel magenta Ink. The blasts attaches to the chest magnetically, and can store on a small magnetic platform for separate display.

Painted with Mr. Color lacquer paints first, and details added with Vallejo acrylics. The neck area, chest disc and connecting areas on the blasts were all sealed with liquid type KrazyGlue, then finished with Matte varnish. The main sifure was sealed with Citadel Glossy Varnish (black suit) and Vallejo Matte Varnish (Head/neck/magenta areas).

Enjoy. :)

great work! I had that same idea of reworked head choice for an XMFC yellow flightsuit havok I´m working on! you beat me to it! but now I see that my idea can be done and looks good. Thanks! And I love what you did on the chest plate and blast effects. I already did a movie havok in the black leather suit from the first movies. You´re welcome to check him out and tell me what you think.

@ringomendoza: Your version looks cool. The outter ring is a bit too big/stonehenge-ish like for my tastes though. I was lucky to get a button that had the right texture and shape for this project's chest plate.

Havok does not have a C in it. Great work though. I love the chest piece and most of all the blast effect. I need to get better at making things like that. I need yellow constructs for my lanterns. Any suggestions on where I can get the paint you used?

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

@saber4734: thanks, ill fix my typo later today. As for the Mr. Color paints, just source them out on a "well known online a uc tion site" (damn posting filters) along with the thinner. I got mine in a Bandai Gundam store overseas, but they sell for reasonable prices frok HK sellers.
Theres two types of thinner for MrColor, and one actually acts as a paint drying retardant, making things apply more smoothly with a brush, and dry with a nicer surface. I put them in eyedropper topped medicine bottles for easier use. Most colors are in glossy, but some come in matte or semigloss. Just watch what your getting. You can also get an additive for the glossy that makes it into either a smooth finish matte, or 'rough' surface matte when dried.

For vallejo paints, theyre just normal acrylics, but work best with their specially forumated acyrlic thinner solution. Always paint lacqur paints first, then acrylics and varnishes on top of that - never the other way around. Lacqur paint appied over top of nonfactory paints peels/chemically reacts with the lacqur when applied in the wrong order.

If anyone needs paint advice, ill help with what I can. Just drop me an email. blaynescott@gmail(dot)com

Thanks again for past and future comments on this cusom. It was a blast to make.
