So here's a little irony: a guy with the internet handle "Batman1016," a handle he's been using on the web for a freakin' DECADE AND A HALF, is a member of a community of action figure customizers, a community that is largely based in comic book characters, and while he's a major fan of DC comics, and he's been active in the custom figure community for almost two years, and he's been dabbling in custom figures off and on for a decade . . . he's never once worked on a Batman toy. Not ONE.

As the Joker once said, "Kinda makes you laugh, doesn't it?"

So, did anyone else remember that Robin (Tim Drake) had a car back in the comics in the '90s? I always thought the Batmobile from "The Batman" cartoon looked similar. This is just a complete repaint with some VERY minor sculpting.

. . . .

No, really, that's it. No massive treatise on the creative process. No ridiculous puns or excessive alliteration or amusing anecdotes. Very simple repaint, grind the bats off the hubcaps, and a sculpted R on the hood. The end.

I am vengeance. I am the night! I AM BATMAN! (no, really, I am)

They finally let him have a car instead of a dirt bike!?! I'm shocked! Mainly with the custom because it is very good, and a great concept all around. They should give Robin in the comics more of his own set of vehicles like Batman does. He should have a car, boat, etc. Instead of riding shotgun with Batman or driving around on his little bike. I often considered a slap in the character's face because if Batman can spend thousands on a single belt-pouch gadget why can't he help Robin put down a down-payment on a decent car? lol! Love this custom sorry it took me so long to get around to commenting on it!

Well, actually, Batman DOES give them whatever gear they want/need. It's just, by the time they're old enough to need it, they're not Robin anymore. Let's face it, at 14-15, Robin ain't ALLOWED to drive anything but a bike. By the time they are old enough . . . Grayson ended up moving out, going to college, joining the Titans, and becoming Nightwing, and he does have his own buildings and lairs and car, all paid for by his Wayne trust fund. Jason Todd never survived to that age. And Tim Drake, as you see . . . he DID get a car. And the current Robin is, again, too young to drive. As for the "little bike," be fair, a Ducati is a pretty bad@$$ machine!

love the design and great execution. he more grown up and finally got that car he was asking batman for.

Yeah, something like that, LOL! Actually, this car is kinda odd: it's out of scale with both the modern 6" scale figures AND the '90s 4.5" scale figures. "The Batman" cartoon, from which this particular vehicle hails, used an odd scale that was somewhere in between. Thus, neither the DCUC Robin, nor the "Batman Returns" Robin really fit well. DCUC is too big, and BR is too small. Ah well. Looks good on the shelf, anyway!

I really dig that Batmobile.

It was definitely a neat design.

How did this not win? This was the best entry!
Batman1016 - Wednesday, February 8, 2012
Eh, it's just a repaint of an existing toy, no major modifications. I'm actually surprised my Prof. X chair came in behind this one . . . in person (if not in photos), it's by far the better piece. More modifications, more crafting, perfect paint job . . . ah well. Thank you very much for your compliment, in any case!

I love The Batman stuff, and this works surprisingly well. I really like it. I always thought the Redbird was a motorcycle, though?
Batman1016 - Friday, February 3, 2012
Common misconception. In the fourth (HORRIBLE) Batman movie, Robin's bike was called Redbird, but it was named after the car Robin was driving in the comics at the time.

Google Image search, "robin redbird," it's the third picture result. A sleek, compact Ferrari-like sports car that bears only a passing resemblance to this custom. But there's enough similar visual cues that the toy passes as an homage.

Good to know never new ol Grayson had his own ride at one point! Looks sweet though nice work!

Not Grayson, Tim Drake. Third Robin.

Thanks for the nice comment!
