Here's one of my favorite Spider-Man villains: Black Tarantula! He's the leader of a crime syndicate, he's super strong, and he has defeated Spider-Man in both their battles - He's awesome!
I wanted to make him big, so I used a wrestler (upper body: Batista, lower body: HHH)
And for the head, I took the worthless TNA Elix Skipper head and sculpted the mask all over it.
I also sculpted wrinkles in his suit, which didn't turn out the best, but I learn from my mistakes.
As you can see on the WIP picture, I originally used fabric for his collars, but when I started painting it, I realized that it sucked, so I ripped them off and used FIXIT Sculpt instead - The trick is to mix together some sculpt, let it cure for an hour or maybe even two, then use a pencil or something as a rolling pin, and make the sculpt into a thin sheet. Since the sculpt by this time has cured quite a bit, it's easy to cut as you wish and form it.
I don't know it this is a wide known method, but I recently discovered it and has already used it on several of the customs I'm working on because it's so great.
I painted him in black and added a matt varnish I have, which gave it a very smooth matte look which isn't very visible in the pictures, but I was very satisfied with that. I was not as satisfied with the silver lines and the spider on the mask. It was really hard to paint, but it could have come out worse, so I won't complain.
It's not a favorite among my customs, but I'm still happy with it! Black Tarantula is awesome!!!
