With a super hero with spider based powers like the Spider-Man it was only a matter of time before he faced off with a villain with fly based powers. In The Amazing Spider-Man #10 (1976) in steps Richard Deacon a small time criminal who was the subject of an experiment to have the genetic coding of the common house fly imprinted on him. This experiment caused him to physically mutate eventually embodying some of the physical traits of a fly. These traits included wings that not only enabled him to fly but which he could also beat at top speed to generate an ultra powerful sonic backlash. Other traits enabled him to cling to walls and multi-faceted eyes giving him the ability to look in every direction. An unfortunate side effect of the experiment included the fly like tendency to eat garbage. His garbage eating appetite aside Deacon assumed the super villain identity of the Human Fly and menaced Spider-Man on many occasions.
