Two figures today! Way I see it, why wait to post the last turtle? I've already waited a year and a half, I think it's long overdue. Here he is, my favorite member of the fearsome foursome, the best turtle of all, Raphael!

The TMNT were a MAJOR influence on my life, and in many ways, my own personality is very much reflective of - and likely developed as a result of - the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You could say, psychologically, I am the four heroes combined into a single whole. Anyone who knows me can tell you, I have a strong sense of justice, fairness, and a dedication to doing what's right, and a desire to lead, strongly reminiscent of Leonardo. I'm very smart, and a TREMENDOUS geek, and as you all know full well, I'm exceedingly verbose and articulate . . . Donatello much? I'm also generally laid-back and easy going, and so long as there's nothing important to worry about, I just don't care, I want to kick back and have a good time, behavior that fits Michelangelo to a T.

But above all else, I'm a major smart-@$$. I'm kinda hot-tempered, passionate about my beliefs, and if you do harsh my mellow, or worse, openly attack me or those I care about, then woe unto you! For I will come out with claws and fangs bared, and I will eviscerate you verbally, and if need be, pummel you physically. I don't suffer fools, I mock stupidity, and I tend to react quickly, not always rationally, and often with disastrous results to EVERYONE (including me). Not necessarily traits to be proud of, but I've always felt you should own your gifts AND your flaws. Be honest with yourself and accept who you are, and I am definitely, hands down, no question, Raphael. He may be a jerk . . . but you won't find a fiercer, stronger, more steadfast and loyal friend

Raphael was made using the same process as the other three turtles; base is an '07 CGI movie figure, parts from a '03 cartoon figure, added joints, sculpted muscles, full paint job, and finished. I did the other three first, so that my process would be fully refined and perfected when I got to my favorite, and I think it shows.

Well, now that I've bared my soul for all you strangers, I think I'll be off for the night!

Turtle Power!

Great job on your TMNT customs! I really enjoy seeing other people's takes on the green team. Can I ask your process on adding the extra joints, specifically the thigh cut? It looks really smooth.

Thanks so much for your compliments!

RE Joint Splicing: I've actually had a couple people ask me to elaborate on this process, and as I was typing up a lengthy explanation, it occurred to me that I REALLY need visual aids to explain. So tell you what: I'll take some photos as I work on my next custom, and I'll throw together a tutorial, 'K?

He looks amazing! Love the fact that you can swap heads!
Batman1016 - Friday, February 17, 2012
Thanks again! RE the swappable heads: my best friend thought it was a dumb idea, 'cuz he didn't like the '07 look. I'm glad I ignored him. I really don't see WHY people were so down on the CGI movie designs . . . I liked the look, for the most part, and I thought the film itself was awesome.

another great masterpiece and love the use of making the cool pose. also you have a great amalgamation of strengths, but knowing your flaws makes you even stronger and using the turtles as a prototype for your different traits is a great concept. it makes you a great team for yourself for they can do anything when they put their minds to it and so can you.

Aw, shucks man, don't get all sappy on me! Thanks for your support!

These rock! Great work in adding the extra articulation it opens up so many more display options than what was previously available! Great work this gets me so hyped for the classics line coming out soon!
Batman1016 - Friday, February 17, 2012
Thanks! Though, on the topic of posing, for the record, I DID cheat with that last pic . . . they CANNOT stand on one foot. He is being held up with a string, which I 'Shopped out. Just wanted a cool, dynamic pic. But yeah, they still have a MUCH wider variety of poses available than the originals of BOTH lines they were made from. Even the popular Fightin' Gear Turtles just don't make the cut! The new collector line from Playmates, however . . . as the TMNT say, they're gonna be TOTALLY RADICAL!
Bushinryus40th - Friday, February 17, 2012
Ahh so it all comes out now! Shame on you! Nah it's cool bro theres no shame in using Photoshop. Cool poses though anyway with or without shop.

Hey, you think this is bad? Check out Samus Aran's Gunship. Yes, I know, false advertising, but unfortunately the ship CANNOT fly in outer space . . . .

The head and body colors don't really match, but other than that, not too shabby.
Batman1016 - Friday, February 17, 2012
Huh? They're painted with the same paint. It's not even mixed color, it's straight out of the bottle. *shrugs* Must be the lighting or something. Thanks for looking!
