In the vast universe protected by the Green Lantern Corps is a planet called Metoz. Here resides a race of oversized carnivorous lizards known as the Varanidon. Metoz is run by a government that expands their territory by means of strong military aggression. The Varanidon conquer worlds, claim them as their own, and transport the remaining survivors back to Metoz to be used as slaves and food.

Suro Chorda was a Varanidon enlisted in the Metozian Military. Brought up to believe that his race was superior to all, he joined willingly. Eager to prove his loyalty as a Varanidon soldier. Initial training and tests showed Suro had the aptitude for military flight. After intense training and years of service in the military Suro Chorda was selected to join the Elite Metozian Air Force. He quickly rose to gain the title of Varanidon Ace and was granted his own squadron.

While on mission his squadron of 10 was ordered to bomb an enemy stronghold. Suro Chorda and his fellow pilots did as they were told but quickly found themselves overwhelmed and outnumbered by enemy fighters. All of his squadron was destroyed and Suro himself was shot down. He managed to crash land away from enemy forces. His tail was severed in the crash and he had sustained other life threatening wounds. He had little supplies from his craft and no food. Knowing his wounds would not heal without sustenance he wondered the plains. Unable to hunt for meat and unaware if his people had sent a rescue party, Suro Chorda believed he would soon die. After hours of wondering he came upon a tree filled with fruit. Having no idea whether this fruit would sustain him but having no other choice, he began to eat. Due to his injury loss of consciousness soon followed. Suro Chorda awoke hours later, wounds healed. His eyes struggled to adjust to an emerald light shining down upon him. And he heard these words.

"Suro Chorda of Metoz. You have the ability to overcome great fear. Welcome to the Green Lantern Corps."

The ring returned him to Oa for training. Suro completed his training under Kilowog in record time and is now a full fledged member of the Green Lantern Corps.

Varanidon Species Fact: They are known for having high stamina. This allows Varanidon warriors to remain active for a long period of time, as well as giving them the ability to resist, withstand, recover from, and have immunity to trauma, wounds, or fatigue. It is now known that they can survive by eating fruit.

Suro Chorda Fun Fact: After realizing he could live off fruit, Suro Chorda gave up eating meat and is now a frugivore or fruit eater. He has also realized that the expansionist military he once praised is corrupt. He cut all ties to the Metozian Military and swore his loyalty to the Green Lantern Corps.

Head: DC Universe Classics Low head. I cut about a half inch off the front, essentially cutting the mouth off but leaving the neck. I then glued a Green Lantern Movie Version Isamot Kol head to the front. I added sculpey all around Low's neck to hide his scales and create a combination of the head heads. Using Isamot's movie body I made indentions in the side of the neck that would look like gills I guess. Just something to add some detail. I then mixed some acrylics and thought a light purple looked good with the green. Then I added some dry brushing effects of red and more purple. On The gills I did dry brushing of orange.
Hands: DC Universe Classics Low hands painted to match the head.
Tail: No Tail. I was going to use Green Lantern Movie Version Isamot Kol's tail. But that dang thing just wouldn't stay on his butt. So I incorporated the loss of his tail into the story.
Thoughts: Well I like many other people hate the Green Lantern movie figures. I mean you think the guys at DC would make the movie guys make these aliens correct. Isamot Kol is supposed to be an orange color and resemble an upright walking dinosaur. Instead they made him a dull blue and all hunched over like he has an alien version of scoliosis. So I figured I could take a screwed up figure and make an OC custom.
