Son of the now-deceased Kuma from Tekken 1 and 2, the second Kuma has appeared in every game since. As Heihachi's bodyguard and sometimes Mishima Zaibatsu board member, Kuma is more than just your average pet. Kuma was trained by Heihachi, and he adapted his fighting style into something called Heihachi-Style Advanced Shin Ken. Kuma has an unrequited crush on Xiaoyu's bodyguard/pet Panda, who Heihachi also trained.
Making Kuma recognizable as more than just your average ursid was not easy. The first and obvious step was to make him no longer a black bear, so I painted him a lighter brown, then used 4 progressively darker brown washes. I feel that really turned out well.
Next, I could have used his red t-shirt and tennis shoes look from Tekken 4, or the scarf that he has in most of his appearances. I went with the scarf, cutting a piece of an old handkerchief. He also had a spiked bracelet in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and decided it'd be easier to go with the on on his hand/front paw like in 3, rather than his back paw in TTT2. This was accomplished using part of a Super Shredder belt.
