I first remove a wolverine sideburns and I set the knob and remove the head, legs and hands. After I remove a nightcrawler the trunk and tail, I gather all the parts in place and then paint the whole figure.
looks good. I made one using that same face. I wasn´t good at sculpting (not that I am now, but I have improved) at that time, and seeing your version, which I really like, I´m determined to rework mine. Great job!
