Bloodshot -

I just started finding out about X-O Manowar and Bloodshot from Valiant Comics. The Drax figure that just came out from ML is a great base figure, never even knew who Drax was...But I knew he would be good for something...

Origin -

Angelo Mortalli was a mob hit man. He is unwillingly put into the "Rising Sun Project" He was injected with microscopic nanites that run through him like blood. That is why he has the circular red scar on his chest. He has a healing factor and is an expert with almost any weapon.

I wanted him to look like he does in the comics, where from being brought back to life he looks pale like he was on ice or something...Took Drax, sculpted the hair over his bald head and took guns from the new ML Captain America and old Shadowhawk for his arsenal. He has removable knives on his belt, 2 handguns, and 2 rifles.

I painted layer over layer on his skin and pants to make it look realistic...

Thanks Holmes...glad it turned out alright, here's a pop up fact - when I sculpted the hair I made it too wild and almost peeled it right off...cooler heads prevailed and I ended up dremeling it down until I got that flat top hair cut he had in Bloodshot #0.

love it, really awesome job and great use of a base. as for a clear red, look to see if there are any washes.

ahhh...got it. I did do a wash of blood red over the scar...I guess I drybrushed over it too much so you can't see...yeah, that base is funny, such a great sculpt for a character that most people barely know or care about...

you gotta admit, the Drax base is pretty good. So many characters can be made from it...

This figure is mean, man. Really good job, esp. the paint.

Thanks G. My goal was to make him look dark and sinister kind of like sin city...

I admit the lost ages for me were 1997-2007. That is when I stopped paying attention to comics for a decade...so going through the old comic bins is like x-mas for me each time, I find new issues I've never seen! Thanks for the love...

This is awesome, I love it! Great idea, I think I'll use the Drax for mine. Can I suggest adding a clear red layer to the blood dot though?
toxinvenom - Monday, May 14, 2012
I really only have access to citadel paints at game empire over here...I don't think they make clear red... Can't wait to see your version of Bloodshot...if you search, there are only 3 on the site!!
