When they first came out with this figure, let's just say it lacked the blood lust that the movie character exuded.
On this custom, the arms and legs have been extended, with better articulation. Gave him talons from a Mcfarlane Dragon figure for the feet, to better grip its prey during flight! The wings have been modified by cutting out the plastic in-between the ridges and replacing them with a thinner plastic (plastic bag material) so that when the wings flap (lever at the back), it actually makes a flapping sound! The thinner plastic, being semi-transparent, also helped to look more like the skin/membrane of a bat's wing. The wings were also lighter in weight now, which benefited the figure to stand upright on its own. Used the fur from a rabbit's foot keychain to create his mane. The fur was glued directly to the scalp, then trimmed with shears. Both acrylic and enamel were used, and a gloss spray on the inside of the wings made the paint smear and bleed - for the desired effect. Wanted to show more beast than man.
I have made a whole series of Van Helsing figures and I really need to make the Dracula Hellbeast to go with them.
Any chance you have an extra Drac lying around?
This is totally sweet, and you should check out my characters to.
it would totally rock to have a pic of my Van Helsing fighting this guy!
