Another X-Men member i have always liked is Banshee, everyone seems to be making him in his Strike Team outfit nowadays, but i always preferred his original costume.

Cloth isnt the best material to use for Banshees wings. I tried the same thing and I hade a hard time painting yellow on it. The best thing to use are th Marvel Legends Banshees wings which can be cut down to fit a Marvel Universe. Or better yet the Banshee from the 1990s Giant size X-men box set. Its about 4.5 inches tall and has a nice set of wings.
