Howdy Realm! While I do have many more figures from my usual series (TMNT, MOTU, Marvel) to post here on the site, I thought I'd strike off on a bit of a tangent today to show you all a new project I've been working on. Thanks to a great trade with sephiroth, I got my hands on several excellent ArtFX mecha figures from Front Mission and Armored Core! Only problem? They came with almost NO weapons at all. Not to worry! Thanks to my massive collection of fodder accessories, I was able to completely rearm these mighty mechs, and I present the results to you now. From Front Mission 3, the first of my "wanderpanzers," Dolague!

The base mech is largely unchanged from the original packaged figure. The major additions here are the weapons. Only the cannon and the small shoulder rocket launcher are factory parts, and not necessarily from this figure. The rest are leftovers and mods of gear from other toys, adapted to work with the FM3 peg system.

Due to the "modular weapon system" nature of the game, the various weapons on a wanzer can come in a variety of designs and colors, being made by many different manufacturers. The exception to this is the shield, which usually comes with the mech itself. I needed a shape that matched the angular shape of the mech's armor, and shared the same deco pattern. I settled on a shield from a classic Gundam 4.5 inch figure, slightly carved down, resculpted, and completely repainted to match the blue camo pattern of the core figure. I am ESPECIALLY pleased with how this turned out, it looks like it came right out of the box with the figure. Even the existing pegs were already perfectly spaced to plug into the new mech's arm!

The rest of the weapons could be pretty much whatever color/design I wanted. The combat knife was from an old-skool TMNT Rocksteady figure, just had to drill a hole in the handle for the grip peg in the wanzer's hand. The stinger missile cluster on the left shoulder is from an Iron Man movie Iron Monger. Finally, the flamethrower was a combination of an Iron Man movie Mk III blaster and a large backpack from an old Rambo figure, connected with a random hose/cable. The fire is from a ML Mandarin figure, and actually shoots from the blast nozzle.

All systems go, locked and loaded, mission accepted!

Thanks! I've been wondering what to do with all these silly, gimmicky, action feature accessories for AGES, and now that I have all these mechs to customize, I finally have a use for them!
