Lol he's just inverted! If you take that picture and invert it it looks spot on to shadow normally!

Ok I looked it up and found out that in Shadow the hedgehog when Shadow's stripes start to glow red and he can use chaos blast and has infinite ammo, THAT'S the official "Dark Shadow". Just an interesting fact.
