UH... City of Heroes is NOT a First Person Shooter. First of all, not really first person. Second, not a Shooter. And Halo is a Shooter. If the primary objective of the game is to shoot your enemies, then it's a shooter.

Well if you look at it that way, City of Heroes is my favorite FPS game (though it's a 3rd person game, you can set it to fps if you want). I just find the first person view to be too restricting for a video game. I like to see my character as well.
By the way, we've kinda been hijacking this thread. That custom rocks in a lot of ways.

I have Goldeneye, and I always thought the multiplayer was fun too. I don't have an Xbox or a 360 yet though, but the best fps(somewhat) games I've played are Resident Evil 4(when you aim a weapon with a scope, it's fps), Metal Gear Solid series(again weapons w/ scopes), and Star Wars BattleFront(which you can set to be 1st or 3rd).

Well as much as I am going to get hated on about this IMO Goldeneye was the best and most fun FPS to play.

does half-life 2 have vehicle combat tho? Halo has made that its own

It's one of the best FPS I've ever played BUT
I've alwase been more of a Half-Life 2 guy, that game is IMO the best FPS ever..
(I'm having a hard time playing FPS on any console except for Wii)

If you really hate fps's you may not like this I stress may as it is in my opinion the best fps ever while it is quite short if you have a xbox 360 buy this game no question the online play is spectacular I got and xbox nearly only for halo 3 the theater made is rediculsly good you can watch your previous gameplay :X:O

No - its not "just another FPS" as its got vehicular combat that goes into 3rd person from first person
Halo 3 also has the advantage of keeping your player in 3rd person should you rip off a standing gun from its housing stand with your cybernetic strength
Like this you can see your character and weild some of the best and fuyn weapons in the game like the flamethrower, chaingun and missile launcher
but the vehicular dogfighting and ground assault vehicles are some of the best scifi gaming has to offer

Halo is as much an FPS as Oblivion or Morrowind is "just an adventure game"
Halo 1 and Halo 3 are two of the best FPS games on the planet - but the wealth of what you can do in them elevates them from being just another DOOM clone

The custom looks cool... extremely cool. Everyone keeps ramming this Halo thing down my throat though... but no one is willing to answer one simple question. Is Halo a FPS?
