When it comes to Batman villains one stands out as my favorite and that's the shape-shifting Clayface. I've always thought he'd make a great build-a-figure and that's the look I was aiming for here. Clayface was made using a Green lantern Movie Masters Kilowog for the base body and a Spawn Desiccator for the head. Clayface's surface was almost completely sculpted over using Aves studio's Apoxie Sculpt (yes it comes in brown!) as were the hands and head. To get good clay folds start at the bottom and work up adding rings of sculpt around the body/limbs and smoothing them upwards. His clay mallet hand came from an Imaginext Clayface toy and his clay mace hand was made from a clear acrylic Christmas star ornament with sculpt around it.

Clayface's head is double ball jointed so he can look around in any position and his jaw opens thanks to the Desiccator head. This gives him a wide range of looks when attacking or just standing around looking menacing. To reduce paint rub I dabbed superglue on to the edge of a plastic baggie (it won't stick to ziplock baggie plastic) and wiped the raised surfaces down after painting then went back over with a base coat. Standing over nine inches tall Batman has a mighty foe to deal with, the villainous Clayface!

I really wish Matty would make a new Clayface, like a collect-n-connect that was all bulky and massive. At least 8 inches

Sick. One of my favoite things you've done. I love the animated look for this character and the part that makes it awesome is the head. #1 - nice use of Dessicator! #2, awesome work in articulating it. That's always been a problem with that design and with the very nice DCSH figure iof him. Super awesome work and I love the sculpt fot he regular hands. Super impressive.

The head just screamed Clayface to me, then came the toggling of peg and clay folds behind it so the head could just barely 'float' above the shoulders. Thanks for the compliments too,

Thanks again for the great replies. Now, help me come up with different attachments. Not just for the arms but maybe chest pieces, armored shoulders, maybe hands extending from the body? I'm thinking of making clayface add-ons, suggestions are welcome!

I think some feet that are just big puddles of mud would be really cool. I also would love to see a display base of mud with arms and faces made of mud reaching out of it also more crazy hands could never hurt, maybe a hand that's a T-Rex head made of mud I dunno lol go nuts

Thanks for the comments everyone! Yeah, I was racking my brain on how to cover a large area with superglue without using a brush/my finger as anything I touched to the plastic seemed to stick. So I experimented with different plastics. I've yet to try silicon which may work, you'd just need to find a very flexible piece and clean it off every time.

I've personally been looking into ways to eliminate minor paint rub. Thanks for the superglue idea.. I'll have to test that out.
As for the figure....
I'd give this one an A+
