Dial Tone was a figure that was released as a G.I. Joe Club exclusive figure a couple of years back, but most fans missed out on it, and now it goes for far too much in the secondary market. Here, I’ve recreated that Dial Tone figure exactly. Thanks to a client of mine for figuring out what parts the club used to make the Dial Tone figure in the first place. He’s made from the upper & lower torso, and upper arms from Leatherneck, the lower arms, and the hands and legs from Rollbar. The head, backpack, and gun are resin casts from Broken Arrow Toys. So after having all my pieces, I just had to look at reference to get all the right colors down. I had to hand mix the pigments myself to get the right shades of yellowish-tan, and the bluish green you see on his uniform. All the correct detailing was added to him as well, and his head is fully painted. I wanted to give his gun and backpack realistic weathering, so I painted them with gun metal, dry brushed some mithril silver, and added some gloss black wash in particular places to give the impression of oil. His arm patch was recreated digitally by me in Photoshop in high definition, and then printed out on a clear label and glued in place.
