Ever wonder what a dude would look like had he'd been pulverized by a speedboat...and still walked around? Lol, exactly - didn't know either. So, went to the library to check out reference books on wounds, scars, & other ravages by infection. After a few hours of soaking in the details, and really absorbing the colors, then went back to begin work on the paint apps.
All those images from the books were still fresh and much of the painting was done from memory. It didn't hurt to have a few pictures of shark bites on the side, just to draw inspiration from. It was necessary to illustrate an excess of damage done to create a level of disbelief/shock that this could happen to Namor! Dug out the abdomen and filled it with removable plastic tubing, and his swim trunks were put together with sequins. Tried to get the wounds as visually convincing as possible using acrylic then adding clear gloss nail polish over top. The gloss was used generously until the desired effect produced a very undead looking sub-mariner.
Thanks Jane for helping to find the books! And sorry you had to see them! Hope this custom brings much laughter!!!
That wound detail is sick in all meanings of the word - really great

The only critique I have is the inside of the joint on his right knee... you can still see the base blue paint and it detracts from the overall sickness of the figure.
