So while working on my DKR Batman, I got a bug--MAKE SUPERMAN. Superman is my all time favorite after all. I've see nlots of MOTUC body Supermen, but none trying to nail Frank Miller's specific look. If I missed one of you guys out there doing this--it's not on purpose!
So I scoured the dark side of the internet and landed a deal on a Prince Adam for under 20 bucks! Of course I realized this was meant to be as those figures are NEVER that cheap. I cut off Adam's bowl and sculpted Superman's messy, Elvis-like mop from the comic, using my Absolute Dark Knight Returns volume, with it's giant size layouts as the ultimate map for achieving a solid likeness.
This also became a new test of my sculpt skills as well: Sculpted the ENTIRE crotch area, front, back and belt. Once you cut off that rubberized loin cloth, there's a lot of space. So I built it up slowly, taking several days in order to frame it and then finish it, blending it so it would look factory made. That was an exercise in patience, trust me. next I sculpted that AWESOME 'S' chest emblem. I love Frank's take on it in the story: huge, iconic, and chunky like the rest of the art.
I sculpted his boots so he could retain the calf articulation. It doesn't spin all the way around, but neither does a real person's, so I'm okay with it.
Cape is my standard wired for poseabilty. Up for grabs soon!
I really want to know what you all think! Thanks for looking! Critique away!!
