Marvel Universe 1st Appearance Venom Custom Action Figure

Custom #:44038
Name:Marvel Universe 1st Appearance Venom
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel Universe
Creator:JP Customs
Date Added:November 4, 2012
Base Figure:Marvel Universe Tigershark
Height:3.75 inches
I wanted to tackle a venom figure without the tongue, the way McFarlane drew him in his run in Spider-man. It wasn't until Erik Larsen took over artist duties that venom obtained that tongue we all have come to love (or hate in my case)

Anyhow, This venom was made with a MU Tigershark base, an an onyx Phoenix productions venom cast head. Some paint and he became venom

Great job on Venom! I too, never liked Larsen's slobbering, wild tongue Venom. I read that Larsen drew him that way because he hated the character, probably because it was partially McFarlane's creation. Anyway, great work!

Thanks! I loved venom before he was a slobbering jerk. It's probably why I like the new flash Thompson venom too. No to tongue most the time

Nice work on your Venom custom. That shot of Spider-man though... looks a bit... well, without a webline showing, or his hands touching the ground...not the best hand placement with his legs spread like that.

lol, I had the same thought, poor spidey dropped the soap

Great job! I also prefer the McFarlane tongueless version. Awesome job on painting the spider symbol.

thank you! yeah, I can't stand the tongue, it has always totally ruined his character for me, and makes him look foolish instead of deadly..

Very cool. I always thought Venom was waaaay creepier back before Erik Larsen turned him into just a slobbering alien monster. So much cooler back then.

thanks! Agreed! The tongue makes him look like a fool!

Nice Venom and I agree with the use of the Tiger Shark body as a base.
And yes, the shoulders can be improved, you can crack the figure open and put in bigger shoulders, but I would leave them as they are. Overall, this is a good custom.

Make use of the articulation and do more dynamic poses

thank you! I think I'm going to attempt it again, using Sabretooth's body next time!
