So I started with the same thing for shocker, by sanding everything down, especially his face. Then I painted his black side green and his face skin color. Then I painted the details on his face which looks simple but it works. Lastly I took some cardboard and shaped them into his wings. The I separated them into 3 parts so they lined up still when his arms moved. The I painted them green. added feather detailing to it and hot glued the pieces on.
One suggestion is to paint the entire figure the same color green.
