Epyon was definitely my favorite Gundam in Gundam Wing. Maybe because it was like the anti-Wing Zero or that kick ass dragon mode!!! After visiting my local Hobby Town and seeing the Master Grade version of this mobile suit I decided it was time for a high grade 1/144 scale Epyon too. I used 3 Gundam Wing model kits to create this custom as follows:

Head and upper torso: High Grade Endless Waltz Wing Zero 1/144 scale
Arms, shield, lower torso, upper legs: High Grade EW Deathscythe Hell 1/144 scale
Shoulders, side skirts, backpack/wings, lower legs, and shield/heat whip: Gundam Wing Epyon 1/144 scale.

Deathscythe Hell's arm shield served as the base for Epyon's shield/heat whip and was perfect because it provided a sturdy connection of the shield to the arm. I simply shaved down the original epyon shield so that it fit on top of Deathscythe's. Epyon's original shoulders fit perfectly onto Deathscythe's arms and required no further modding. Wing Zero's upper torso was the closest I could find to Epyon's and just needed a repaint. The tricky part on this was the lower legs. In order to make the older Epyon legs jive with the new Deathscythe legs I had to hollow out the top of the Epyon legs, cut the top of Deatscythe's lower legs off, and glue the 2 together. Finally. the backpack was glued directly to the upper torso, but the wings were left alone so they could remain poseable. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the base models, Epyon can no longer transform, but it still looks cool!

One red and gunmetal paint job later I had Epyon ready to kick some Heero ass (even though it's fighting Altron in the pics).

I also included a WIP shot so you could more easily identify the separate pieces.

Feel free to leave crits and comments and thanx for looking!!

Nice job making an updated model. I have the old Epyon model somewhere in a box. It does suck that they never released a high grade version. It was one of the coolest Gundams from Wing, much cooler than the Tallgeese.
