This was a 'request' by a father who wanted a red "Bumblebee" Transformer for his 3 year old son, Issac. His birthday was coming up, and this boy was apparently fixated on the idea of a red colored Bumblebee toy. (Essentially, he wanted a Rescuebot Heroes Cliffjumper.)
The father wanted to have his sons name somewhere on the figure, so I dremmeled down the autobot logo'ed licence plate (prior to painting), measured it, and cut/sanded down some white styrene to create a new plate. On top of that, I put a custom printed waterslide decal (created in Photoshop) of ISSAC on a North Carolina licence plate.
Used fine grain sandpaper to remove the black stripes from the bood, and top of the car to further differentiate it from the yellow version.
I disassembled/masked and painted the figure with multiple coats of Tamiya Red Spray (TS-85). Metallics were Testor chrome and Gunmetal, headlights were Mr. Hobby Yellow, and Vallejo Black back/racing fin. Added a few applications of Vallejo white to the autobot logo to make it stand out again, and sealed the entire figure with two coats of Mr. Spray Glossy UV Cut sealant. The licence plate also has an additional layer of clear superglue protecting it from playtime wear/tear.
The final figure was photographed, and re-packaged back into it's backing board with black twist ties for Issac to open on his birthday.
Hope you like the pics.
