Continuing with my Dark Knight Rises customs, next up is Bane. Ever since I saw the 5 inch Walmart figure I liked it, however the lack of paint applications, made it look like a crappy figure. After seeing tons of picture references from the movie and the Hot toys figure, I was able to paint Bane with the correct skin color, aged pads on the vest, texturing on the pants, accurate mask and eyes. It's a pitty to see where the american toy industry is going, reducing articulation and paint applications. (see the iron man 3 toys...) After acquiring my first Hot Toys figure,(Dx-12 batman) my eyes have been opened to a new standard of quality and craftsmanship that we -as customizers/artists- should strive to imitate and surpass, and its a pitty to see that those high standards are not coming from US toy companies anymore....They come from China,Korea and Japan...Are we going to let that happen? time will tell.

Amazing work Hunter, the paint makes the figure look exponentially better, and it does look very cleanly and professionally-painted!

Thanks. I'm a child of the 80's (and 90's) and grew up with amazing toys like the USS Flagg, the Star Wars playsets, Thundercats, g.I.joe, etc Remember the good ol' joe catalogs? the thundecats leaflets? just by seeing them your imagination started to fly! China only manufactured what we told them. those toys were american toy making at their best. I know those times are long gone, but when I see pitiful attempts like Bane here or the craptastic Helicarrier for the avengers line...My optimism fades.

Your paint job really rejuvenated the stale figure. Usually you only get that level of detail in paint from a movie masters figure.

Thanks Wonder, when comparing some of the shots, the movie masters figure still has some minor inaccuracies. but hey, its 10 times better than what Walmart gave us.

What can I say, I tried the same with a basic figure of him. Sometimes I really got disapointed about the paintings of some figures anda already painted a Bane and Joker, you can see that in my album. Why they don`t try to get better, like the Hasbro figures?
