If you haven't read J.J. Abrams' unproduced Superman: Fly By script its definitely worth a read. Its incredibly weird and not very true to the Superman origin, but its fantastic and very entertaining. The design of this figure was basically my interpretation of what the script describes. There is some concept art out there for this movie and if you have some time I recommend checking it out. I used some GI Joe ROC trooper figure and a Duke Renegades head with sculpted hair.
