When I saw the cover to Venom #33 with the new Toxin design, I was dead set on doing it as a custom. Now I was pretty disappointed that the interior artist had him look like a pile of pig intestines, then a little bummed Jin beat me to the punch with his cool version of this guy last week.

Took the spare Venom I bought (since I switcharoo'd a bunch of parts to get one with nice paint) and just gave him a repaint, then resculpted two of his heads so he'd have an unmasked and a masked head. Think he ended up pretty nice and the shading really worked well.

Naw, it's still the morphing Eddie Brock head from the MS Venom I used. Does look a bit like him though.

This is probably one of the most badass customs I've seen lately. The airbrush shading makes me rethink the way I'm shading with a wash...maybe shading with the airbrush is better...Love the character and the wicked look you gave him. Outstanding!!

You may be a little biased given your screen name, but I'd definitely suggest an airbrush. They really do work like magic, especially since they similarly take a lot if practice, prep, and maintenance.

I do still clean up a lot of the shading with washes and hand brushing though. Always upsides and downsides to all techniques.

Yea, I gave those a shot but the wrists are way smaller on this guy. I do like the look of the monster claws quite a bit though.

If I really wanted accuracy I would've forgone the symbol and just covered him in spaghetti though
