I've been wanting to do HK-47 for a while and finally picked up an HK-50 BAD to paint. I figured it I'd be painting it anyhow, so why not get the less expensive figure. The ball joints were giving me some trouble, as they are made of that PE plastic that nothing will stick to. I ended up have to remove the joints and dye them black. It sucked haveing to cut him up, but, joint rub is no longer an issue. Definitely one of the dirtier paint jobs I have done on a figure. I painted a lot of him with my fingers, really. I still haven't painted the gun just because it doesn't look bad as is. I may get around to it.

The mold on this figure is fantastic. Great detailing. I wish he was a little bigger. He's pretty small compared to most of my other figures. I'm thinking the scale he's in is around 1:20th. He's close to seven feet in the game, it looks like, and the figure stands at 3 and 7/8 inch which is about right in 1:20th scale, assuming 3 and 3/4 = 6 foot 3. Regardless of scale, I love the figure and really enjoyed painting it. HK-47 is my all time favorite Star Wars character, has been since the first KotOR came out, and I'm really happy to finally have him in my collection of figures. Thanks for looking.

fantastic!! I've been buying a few extra protocol droids to customize and maybe I'll get into mandos later... but went to research customizing and found this... love it!!.. looks amazing.. are there any good step by steps out there on painting?? could you do a video or photo journal of your next custom? and maybe list your paints and tools?? that'd be VERY helpful to newbies like me!!

Hey sorry it took me so long to see your comment. If you are looking for tutorials check out the ones at jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.
The first three tutorials are the most relevant, as far the painting techniques I used for this figure. I'd give you a link, but...

The one thing I will suggest is that you use Model Masters Acryl paints. Of all the paints I have tried, these bond to most of plastics you will be painting, better than any others.
