Hello all, this is my very first attempt at customizing so please be gentle :) Yes, it's another Dee Jay. I have recently started up a SOTA Street Fighter collection and quickly realized one important SSF2 character was never released by SOTA. As I was searching for info on a SOTA Dee Jay I ran into figurerealm and saw people customizing their own figures which simply blew me away. At first I thought it sure would be nice to purchase one of these customs, at the same time I got another crazy idea and that was to try to do my very own custom. Expecting to fail, I'm very happy how the figure came out considering this was my very first attempt. The goal was to not make the figure look like total crap and I'd like to think I accomplished my goal. It looks good from a couple of feet away ;)

The recipe is clearly "borrowed" from several of the other great customizers on here. Used Neca Ken as a base and basically just epoxied the hair, built up the neck, filled in some holes. Painted the figure with acrylic paint and super glued dreads made from very thin rope to the back of the hair. Had a bit of a hard time doing the black stripes and letters. Still far from perfect overall, but certainly good enough for me.

Thanks to everyone here for the inspiration. I've had a lot of fun working on this custom and since I have room for two, possibly three more SF figures in my display cabinet I have decided to do two more Street Fighter customs. Crappy pix I know, but here he is.

Cheers

Really nice job. Paints looks smooth - and yellow can be hard to work with. That head works so much better for him that for Ken. Turned out really nice.

Thanks the colour is actually orange (a light shade of orange) but it always comes off looking yellow when taking pix with my crappy camera. I might have to give that acrylic sealer a try to get rid of the glossiness as Highmore Studios suggested.

Thanks a lot for the compliments guys! The skin is a little too glossy I agree. Is there any quick and easy way to remedy that? Or would I simply have to use flat brown? Oh well, still learning as I go

A light coat of matt acrylic sealer (best to use a spray) should do the job.

That's some nice work there, especially on the head & pants lettering. My only crit would be that the skin seems a little too glossy, but hey, you could always just say he's sweaty from kicking arse...
