Hi misty - I was checking my comments, and noticed that you'd replied to my advice re: sculpting compound/sanding.

Whenever you post anything in public (art, music, writing) in a venue that's geared toward constructive critique - be prepared for people to voice their opinion. There wasn't anything mean or viscous about your work in my comment. On the contrary - I've been making custom toys since 2007, and sometimes like sharing the knowledge I've gained with people. Your work looked like it could be improved, so I suggested some things you can do, and materials to get that will help you make better figure in the future.

If you're looking for a website where everyone just says your work is awesome, and never says anything that can hurt your feelings? Those places don't really exist. There's a difference between criticism and critique though - it's good to understand that when you post your work online.

Regarding your 2nd comment: If you're trying to replicate that rough textured look - sculpt with Aves, and smooth it out with just a small bit of water. Wait about 30 minutes, then use a rocking/stamping motion with a rough sanding sponge. It creates an amazing texture that you can then tweak with sculpting tools.

Best of luck with your future projects.

It's good that you're using Aves Apoxie sculpt. However, this still looks very rough. Find some 150, 200, and 300 grit sand paper (also, sandpaper sponges) - they'll do wonders for smoothing down cured aves apoxie sculpt. Also, search up 'clay shapers' online. They're excellent for sculpting Aves.

I agree with blaynescott but think its totally unfair to lash out when hes only giving you constructive criticism thats part n parcel of what the realm is about.
