"What do humans know of our pain? We have sung songs of lament since before your ancestors crawled on their bellies from the sea."
- Farseer Eldrad Ulthran
Before Man even existed, the Eldar empire already had the galaxy within its grasp. At the peak of their power whole planets could be made and unmade with thought, even the stars themselves shuddered at their might. Then came The Fall. Their empire destroyed from within and countless billions were killed. Those that survived were left planetless and drifted in space in huge ships called craftworlds.
This then left the galaxy open to intruders and those seeking conquest. After The Fall, Man, along with others were able to tread through the galaxy unhindered by the Eldar, who were all but recovered. Although they don't view mankind as that big a threat, other numerous races are now in the way of Eldar dominance, which they will attain again by any means necessary.
Eldrad Ulthran was the mightiest and most ancient of the Farseers of the Eldar Craftworld of Ulthwe. Since the Eldar have natural psychic abilities this is were most of their power comes from, Farseers being the most powerful of Eldar psychics. Eldrad met his end during the Eye of Terror campaign in which the Eldar were trying to stop The Chaos Hordes from destroying the planet Cadia. He was ambushed in a Blackstone Fortress when battling the dark energies of the Warp, his soul was then torn from his body and consumed by the gaping maw of terror that is the Warp. Whether his soul was able to join the others at his craftworld and find peace is unknown, although if it remains it the Warp, his fate is that of unspeakable anguish.
