Ludo is my favorite character from Jim Henson's cult classic, Labyrinth from 1986. Despite his appearance (and the reputation that precedes most Night Trolls), Ludo is actually docile and playful. His brute strength, loyalty and ability to summon and manipulate stone (rocks and boulders respond to his call) make him a valuable asset to Sarah, on her quest through the Labyrinth. Conceptualized by Brian Froud and brilliantly brought to life by the Henson crew, Ludo stands as one of the most believable "Body Muppets" on film.
I've been thinking about making this figure way back when the first Monster's Inc. movie came out. Always thought a Sully base would work great but never got around to buying one. When the new toys hit shelves to promote the sequel, this was a no brainer.
Ludo's head is scratch sculpted with craft foam ears for flexibility. Head connects with a magnet ball joint for lots of posing. Hands were modified from 3 fingers to 2 with sculpted knuckle detail. Toes were sculpted over existing claws. Also sculpted a belly on front and a fur tuft on back to cover where Sully's spines were removed.
