After spending 5 years abroad, Spider-Man's clone, Ben Reilly, returned to New York only to find he was the real Peter Parker all along! After a brief stint as Scarlet Spider Ben took over as New York's resident web slinger.
The clone saga and ensuing madness is one of my earliest and fondest memories of comic books. As a child I didn't know who or what the Scarlet Spider was, but I liked it! Hasbro only teased us by releasing Ben Reilly as Spider-Man and calling it Scarlet Spider so I decided to make my own.
In all honesty, this started out as a Scarlet Kaine figure awhile back, but I was dissatisfied and re-worked the whole thing!
I was going for a beefier "90s" look and chose my parts accordingly. I used a ROML Bucky Cap as the base because I wanted the buck build for the upper body, ROML FF Spidey hands and head (with some slight sculpt work), Movie Series Ultimate Spider-Man lower legs, sculpted hoodie, a batman belt with extra web cartridges sculpted on, and fodder pouches and craft lace around the ankles.
Some plastic was removed from the hips to allow for better range of motion. I sculpted the spider logo on the front only this time.
Several layers of paint and washes finally achieved the colors I was looking for.
I don't know the exact number of hours, but I'd say , as Scarlet Ben, this took me about a week. I think the hardest part was the hoodie.
Hope you enjoy and please leave any and all comments or critiques!!
