This was one of the toughest projects that I've done so far. Basically because I had to sculpt 3 different things. The Ventriloquist, Mr Scarface ( the puppet ), & the Tommy Gun. One night I sculpted the Ventriloquist's head which made me take on this project. I had an extra Kenner BTAS Riddler body laying around since I used the head to make a better posed Riddler awhile back. I always thought that his legs would be perfect for the TNBA Ventriloquist. I heated them up to reposition them & also cut the feet off to shave some of the bottom of the pants since the Ventriloquist is one of the shorter characters in the TNBA universe. Then I ground down all the detail from the Riddler's upper body & just started sculpting. Once I attached his head & sculpted his suit the way I wanted it, it was time for the arms. The Riddler's arms were still a good choice. They just needed to be cut, shaved, & spliced into new positions. A mattel JLU Flash donated the hands since I figured that left hand would be perfect to hold Mr Scarface. Then onto the tough part, the puppet. Mr Scarface was a pain for me!!!! I just couldn't get the look right. He is all sculpt & I had many failed attempts with getting his head to what I thought was perfect. His head is also articulated. The gun was the last of this project & I wanted it to be removable from his hand. So I started out using one of the tiny black guns from an 80's G1 Constructicon just so I could have a solid plastic handle. There not much you can see of the original gun anymore since it's almost completely sculpted over.
When I hit a wall & was having trouble sculpting Mr Scarface, I was discussing this entire project with some other customizers. Everyone pretty much said just make a nub for a hand & have the puppet on it permanently. But in the TNBA episode " Double Talk " Mr Scarface was perceived to be running around on his own at times. So I definitely wanted to make him removable from the Ventriloquist's hand. I did accomplish that feat & he can be removed & stand next to the Ventriloquist, then be put back on his hand. This project has quite some time invested in it. I didn't think it was ever going to be finished. I hope you all enjoy the finished product.
