I got around to working on some figures today and while their paint was drying, I found myself with some free time so I figured, let's work on something else! The result was a Spiderman styled trophy piece statue.
The inspiration for this guy came from two places: Marvel Zombies and the game Injustice: Gods Among Us. The Injustice reference, for those who have played it, came from Lobo's ending to the game, where, during his cinematic voice-over slide thingy, it basically shows the skulls of all the superhero's he has killed mounted with their masks still on. I liked it so much I wanted to try something like it.
For the overall design, the ripped mask, I tried to loosely base it on the Marvel Zombies Spiderman look since I think it shows good battle damage without going too overboard.
The base and mount are both made of wood spray painted with a metallic color, the skull is a resin skull I had ordered and the mask is some cheapo Spiderman mask I has. The statue is about a foot tall and the skull is a good enough size to look presentable but not too huge that it would take up a lot of space. Overall, probably about an hour, hour and a half worth of work here.
Nevertheless, I'm pleased with the result and he'll be up on Ebay later tonight. Now back to the figures!
