Kitty here is my first Marvel Legends custom! Took me about 2 days to finish, and it should have only taken me about an hour, but I like to procrastinate ;)
Kitty is mostly a repaint of the ML Mystique figure with some tweaking done afterwards. I peeled off Mysty's skull-skirt, sanded, washed, and then painted a nice and simple Green Lantern pattern. I ripped off a sleeve from a black shirt and cut out her fancy skirt, then I glued it on. The white ridge along the skirt's waist is a glued-on white rubber-band I found. I also found some awesome dark chrome-green foil in the kitchen so I cut out 2 strips and glued them to the lips of her boots. I also cut out a tiny circle and glued it to her finger for a ring. I popped off Mystique's head and replaced it with a Wasp's head from the old Avengers Animated line. Her head is amazingly detailed, just like a Marvel Legend, but much much better! She is very pretty, she looks exactly like Shadowcat from the old X-Men Evolution cartoons so I call her Kitty :) I used some white sculpey to stick Wasp's head on so it looks like she has a white collar. I didn't harden the sculpey so her head can turn in any direction and she has a natural-looking neck! She kept all her articulation, but sadly, I still don't know how to keep the paint from peeling off at the joints. I think she turned out great. She's 5.9 inches of the most powerful force the universe.
I bought a bunch of Liquitex because they were on sale for 75cents per 2FL.OZ. bottle! I know they work well because I've gotten perfect finishes before, I just don't know how to do it consistently I pretty much dry-brush everything now and it works fine most of the time. I lucked out on Kitty I went to a Michael's, Aarons Brothers, and The Art Shoppe, and they didn't have any Testors Maybe Walmart has them? Too bad there isn't a Walmart near here (or I would have bought some of the new ML figs already :P). I'm going to keep looking around for them...
LOOKS GREAT..
I thought u said brushing the figure w water doesn't work? I remeber u saying u could just sand it out with sand paper?
And yeah, everyone looks better as a Green Lantern
