This one nearly killed me. This was more a case of me seeing the base figure in the store and thinking "wow...I could make that into..." than me having the figure idea and seeking out the materials. I suppose that reverse engineering is the basic tool of all customizers, however, the innate ability to see something and automatically not just see it for what it is, but what it could be. The base body was a Gentle Giant Willy Wonka, as it has a dead on blank expression Johnny Depp headsculpt and a rail thin body. I then added a custom sewn outfit made from a metallic sheened felt that had reptile type patterns pressed into it. I thought it looked just as good as leather or pleather, and made the leather straps and such really pop in comparison. I then took a mezco Edward and carefully cut off all the details with an exacto knife, removed the sculpted hair and the hands. I added the hands and put the hair on the wonka head (the mezco head seemed too deformed, and not real enough) which I scarred lightly with epoxy and painted light cream with purple highlights. I then glued the removed details with hot glue and lock-tite and finally added some g.I. joe cavalry boots from a 12" spirit ironknife figure (they have spur straps molded on, which resemble the characters boots, and are a bit too long for 12" scale, which also looked perfect. This quickly became one of my favorite pieces and is a big attention getter.
Great work on the sculpting, but the outfit here is just amazing!!!!
Nice work all around!!!
