So, I had this crazy idea once. I found an old vhs copy of the cap movie and, in between busting a gut at how unintentionally funny it is I couldn't believe that instead of chain mail or some kind of armor, the upper blue part of his suit essentially looked like it used to be the liner of an above ground pool. I mentioned this to my wife, and she remarked "only a real nut would try to copy the comic look and attach all those pieces". Well, I am that nut, by God. I began with a BBI series three muscle body, took an old mego 12" cap uniform and dyed the blue royal blue instead of sky (I know a lot of people like the lighter shade, but the colors of his outfit should match those on the flag, in my opinion) I made him some new boots from han solo boots with leather folds, took the gloves from a G.I. Joe 12" firefighter, took the belt and shield from a Marvel Icons Cap, and the head as well. I sewed him a mask, glued on the wings and "A" from a 9" cap figure I got dirt cheap ...and then the real fun began. One at a time, I sewed small blue sequins on the upper blue portion of the costume. A week later, when I was done, I painted them metallic blue and sealed it with acrylic. The end result is one of the few figures I would probably never sell. I have him featured here along with a few other caps I did for a client.
