I know a lot of people are calling it Olivetti, but he didn't draw everyone as super buff, so i think Giusti style is more appropriate, since it seems like they're all going into his collection.
Anyways, he asked me to do a buffed up Hawkeye for him, so here he is:

![[Batman and Robin (D. Grayson & Damian Wayne)] I loved Morrisons run on Batman and Robin after Bruce died. I felt like he took a concept that could have really sucked, and made it insanely readable. It also turned me around on Quitelys art. And the idea of Damian. I love that book.
Anywho, i made a D. (stupid word filter) Grayson Batman and Damian Wayne Robin about two years ago, but i was never satisfied with them. Figured enough time has passed to give them another go.
I decided i wanted to base their looks off of the cover of Batman and Robin #1. This was my first time going for an artist specific look, and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Batman was made from Toybiz Sonjay Dutt, with some of the musculature ground off and the whole body sculpted over, since Quitely drew them looking like they were wearing real costumes, not showing all of their muscle definition. His head is a DCUC superman.
Robin was a bit more work. He's a walmart Amazing Spiderman, with about an inch or so cut out of him from the legs and torso. H](userimages/customs/47500/47326-1.jpg) Batman and Robin (D. Grayson & Damian Wayne) | ![[Agent Venom (Enraged)] Theres more! I wanted to be able to portray when Flash gets angry and rages out, but doesn't go full on Venom-beast. I'd love to do all four of them, but the only one that fits the criteria for this contest was War, so here he is.
He's built on a Marvel Select Avengers Hulk base. His head is completely sculpted, and his jaw is articulated, so he can have a full on "roar" face. His hands are from a Legendary Riders Thing, sculpted over. The mid part of his legs are from a Validus, and everything else is either Hulk, sculpt, or vinyl. His ridiculous axe was built out of styrene, with a sculpted pommel and ornamentation. I also airbrushed him, and i really like the resulting skin tone.
This guy is a real beast. He weighs like 3 lbs, and stands about 12" tall. Probably the biggest thing i've ever worked on.](userimages/customs/47500/47192-1.jpg) War |
![[Surtur (Classic)] Always wanted to do a Surtur, but was very intimated by a lot of the necessities of making one. I wanted him to look evil, not just angry, so i sculpted his head completely from scratch. I've also always felt that hot glue tends to make fire look too "blobby", so i ended up sculpting all of that as well. I used green stuff instead of fixit for the flames, since you can pull and stretch it without it tearing like fixit would. His tail was from a cheap snake i got at walmart, and his crest is cut from styrene.
I knew The Twilight Sword would cause me some headaches as well. 1) because it would require a good amount of work on it, and 2) how he was going to hold it. The first problem was just a time commitment, and it was just a shape cut from styrene, and sculpt. The second was more problematic. I loved the base figures left hand, because its pretty expressive, but his right was just a fist, leaving neither capable of gripping the sword. ![[The Halls of Loki] Alright, so i've recently been thinking a lot "WWWD?". In case thats inscrutable, it means "what would Warrack do?". I'm always impressed by his approach to customs. A figure he does is always more than just the figure. So when i came across an extra modern Loki, i thought that would be the perfect opportunity.
Started with making Modern Loki more classic. I'd say he turned out "classic-ish", since he's got more triangular scalemail, a less geometrically perfect shawl, and just more detail on his belt, boots, and gloves. Of course, all of that is just because i didn't want to grind it off, but... whatev. He's all modern Loki, except for his forearms, which are from Hawkman, and his shawl which is from Captain Cold. His ponytail is on a balljoint so that its removable for when you want him to sit down, but i took it out, then forgot to put it back in for any of the pictures. I guess he's the main character in Knights of the Old Republic. I never played it, but i was familiar with the design. Since there was just the announcement of the 6" Star Wars figures, i thought this would be a fun one to take on. He's almost completely a 6" Avengers Loki, except with bucky hands. Upper body sculpted over, lower covered in his robes. Made his lightsabers from styrene rods with the hilt sculpted, and the blades covered in hot glue. ![[Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles] I've had a set of the 2012 Turtles sitting around for months, so i decided i should probably go ahead and paint them. Nothing exciting here here. These guys were the least fun figures to prep that i've done in a long, long time. Damn those waxy weapons. The guy wanted him to have more black on his face like Ult. Deadpool (who's design i hate) and short sleeves like Weapon X Deadpool (which i also hate), so i came up with my own design for him that integrated those two things and a couple elements of other DP costumes i like. Kind of came out looking like Deadpool by way of Mortal Kombat. He also wanted him to have an unmasked head, and a bandaged head for some reason, so he's got 'em.](userimages/customs/47000/46654-1.jpg) Deadpool |
![[Dr. Doom] Had a couple extra Extremis figures lying around from my aborted attempt to do all the Power Rangers, so I thought I should make something with at least one of them.
Resculpted parts of the face (he's got eyeballs in there, but they're too sunken to see in the pics), sculpted his tunic over his torso, and his belt.
Unfortunately, no matter what i did i couldn't get the color of the fabric parts to match the sculpted parts. Super weird. Did the exact same process on both of them. Oh well. Lesson learned.

The original figure is basically unpainted, with a really dull, ugly silver, so i wanted to do him more like how he looks in the cartoons. ![[Cyclops (Classic)] Earlier this year, I made a Modern Bianchi style Cyclops from Bucky, and I liked the base a lot. I had planned to do more versions of him (like x-factor), but went on a little hiatus so i never followed through on it. Well, I'm back now so, I thought i should get to it.
Disco just beat me to this particular costume, and did it more accurately. I figured i could do this from memory since its just a simple costume, but had forgotten that during the Cockrum times, Cyclops visor was roughly the shape of an infinity symbol, not the more modern straight lines. Oh well... close enough. I did a leathery texture into his gloves, but its not really showing up in pictures.](userimages/customs/46000/45549-1.jpg) Cyclops (Classic) | ![[Bane (Secret Six)] A couple years back i made a Bane that turned out just terribly. I'm embarrassed to look at it now. It was this weird mish-mash of parts that i thought looked great at the time, and man... it didn't. So I've always wanted a second crack at him, but could never find the right combo of parts. Low and behold, i see this new Mattel wrestler in target the other day, and he's perfect. Tall, wide, just powerful looking, but not ridiculous. I'm a fan of Secret Six, so i wanted him to portray how he appears there, not all venomed up.
So i got the figure, switched his boots out for non-lace ups, switched his hands with sota guile, and did some sculpting. Had to bulk up his forearms a bit, those wrestlers always have tooth pick forearms. Now here he is. New and improved.](userimages/customs/45500/45378-1.jpg) Bane (Secret Six) |
![[Connor Kenway] For Connor, i knew i'd be making his coat out of cloth because its too complex a design to use any pre-existing coat, so i went through some WiP pics of the master of cloth work, Spawnsauce, to get some inspiration. Seems like he's using a sanded down Bucky like its going out of style for a lot of stuff, so i decided to follow suit. So Connor is all Bucky, sanded down, sculpted over, and then with a cloth coat added. His straps and such are made from that vinyl you get from walmart, as his quiver. His arrows, on suggestion from my father, are made out of straws from a broom with vinyl feathers, and I've gotta hand it to the old man, it was a good suggestion. Built his tomahawk and knife from scratch, his bow is a modified from the new Hobbit Legolas, and his pistol is an unmodified Jack Sparrow one. His extra weapons are a gun stock club made from styrene, Captain Kidds Sawtooth Cutlass (a pre-order bonus weapon) made from styrene and sculpt, and a hidden blade made from styrene. The tails and front part of her waist coat are made from layers of vinyl, as is the brim of her hat, and her sashes are made from t-shirt. Her hair is made out of braided hemp cord, which was kind of a god send because it looks just like the art, really solidified after being painted, and most importantly, i had no idea how i was going to do it otherwise. She comes with a sugar cane machete that i made from sculpt and styrene, a blowpipe that is made from a sewing needle and craft beads, and a modified pistol from a jack sparrow. With both her and Connor, i originally wasn't going to do hidden blades, because i couldn't figure out how to do them with it being too bulky or long. However, i finished them both with a day to spare before the deadline, so i decided to make extra weapons for them both. For her, she got that cutlass in the pictures, and for her hidden blade, its a piec](userimages/customs/45500/45226-1.jpg) Aveline De Grandpre |
![[Firefly] Next up is Firefly. There's just always been something about DDs Firefly that i've loved. It just has such a lean, angry, and dangerous look to it. However, he made it with an ML6 Deadpool, so i never really thought i'd have the chance to replicate it. I got lucky a couple of weeks ago though when a guy was willing to trade a DP for some repair work on his McF Spiderman. At first i felt a little bad using such a desired figure for fodder, but then i figured, screw that, i need to use it. So he's a completely sculpted over Deadpool with Bullseyes boots. He's got pouches from various sources, a knife on his arm from movie punisher, a random handgun, his smg from The Spirit goon, and his back pack is from a Hazard Viper. I wanted to give him one that more closely matched his original one, but i got tired of working on it, so i just went with the H.V.s briefcase. For a bit i thought about making him from a Bucky like my other recent Joes were, but i thought it'd probably be best not to over do it on him, so I went with my favorite Storm Shadow recipe, from the man himself, DD. He's all Iron Fist with Bullseye arms. His scabbards are from ML6 Deadpool, his swords made from styrene and sculpt, Sin City Mihos bow and arrows, and a quiver made from styrene. His hands are from Mattel wrestlers with Halo wrist joints so he can tilt his hands in every direction. Enjoy](userimages/customs/39500/39379-1.jpg) Storm Shadow |
![[Cobra Trooper] Pretty standard recipe for this guy. Long Shot body with movie Mr. Fantastic boots, some random forearms, bucky cap hands, and a forge head. Wish i had taken pics of him with the black background.](userimages/customs/39500/39378-1.jpg) Cobra Trooper | ![[Beach Head] Up next is another Bucky Cap Joe, this time my favorite non-ninja Joe, Beach Head, at least until they added the bit to his personality where he doesn't wear deodorant. Whats the business all about? He's made almost entirely from a Bucky, with a SHIELD Agent Head, and WWE boots. Normally he has a long sleeve ribbed shirt, but i thought that coupled with the commando look would skew too close to the Snake Eyes i just made, so i went with his Resolute look where he wore a short sleeved turtle neck (they make those?). I figured since his function is as a small arms armorer, he should really be packing some heat, so i gave him two of Buckys guns, one of his knives, two SMGs that attach with magnets to his back pack, and one of those assault rifles that the shield agents came with. Honestly, i think he came out a little sloppy, but i'm pretty happy with him.](userimages/customs/39500/39104-1.jpg) Beach Head |
![[Snake Eyes] After seeing Bentys awesome Firefly, i decided to get crackin' on some Joes myself. I always wanted to make a Snake Eyes, but i didn't want to do one that looked like his classic look, since i feel like thats really over done. I mean... i might end up doing one anyways, but i didn't want that to be my first one. So i went with one inspired by the kind of recent Pursuit of Cobra version. He's sculpted entirely over a Bucky cap, with his swords built from styrene with sculpt over the handles, and the sheathes are made from heat shrink tubing with the end sculpted over. I was lucky enough to find a DC Unlimited God of War Hades staction figure at FYE on clearance. If that hadn't happened, i never would have tackled this, cause that thing is too expensive to grab online. I also just happened to have some big body parts in my bin, so it all just kind of came together.
Top half is FO Hulk that i extended about 1/3", the crotch, upper legs to knees, and feet are from Maestro, and lower legs are from Abomination, and the head is a stealth venom shoulder joint. The helmet, weapons, hands, toes, and spikes (all 35 of 'em) are from the DC Unlimited figure. Pretty much the entire figure was sculpted over, since he's kind of a portly fellow, his skin has craters all over it, and a lot of open gaping wounds. I put magnets in his weapons so that chains can attach to them, and so the can attach to his chain belt. In the game, it seemed li](userimages/customs/39000/38964-1.jpg) Hades |
![[Jack O' Lantern] Up next is the new Jack O' Lantern from the Venom series. Its like he was designed with my sensibilities in mind. Halloween themed outfit? A flaming pumpkin head? A FLYING BROOMSTICK?! LITTLE ROBOTIC DEVIL MINIONS?!?!?!?!?! Unfortunately, as a character he kind of sucks. His design, to me, screams evil, mysterious, inhuman mastermind, whereas it turns out he's just a trashy, foul mouthed, daddies boy hitman. Big let done to me. Only really cool thing about his character is his modus operandi: when he kills people, he cuts off the top of their head, scoops out their brains and eyes, puts the top back on, and lights candles in their eye sockets and mouth, turning them into human jack o' lanterns, which is awesomely gruesome.
Anywho, he's made entirely from an old Spider Sense Spiderman, with the exception of his hands which are from an Angel figure, his collar which is from long shot, and his head, which is a Stealth Venom hip ball, covered in hot glue then sculpted over. Oddly enough, very little of it was actual avengers merchandise. Most of it was figures from the last three movies. Just tons and tons of armored avenger figures. I counted 17 Crimson Dynamos. It was nuts. Anyways, there were also quite a few 3.75" Captain America figures put out, including Crossbones. I had never seen that figure in person, and DAMN, its awesome. Not awesome enough to get me to buy it since i'm not big on that scale, but it made me really really want an ML scaled one. So i went to the wrestling aisle where i knew some of those legends 2-packs had been languishing for a while, and picked up the one with the two red neck looking guys, cause they had perfect lower bodies for this. I got him home, looked up pics of the 3.75" figure, and got to work. I sculpted the head (which i don't mind doing when there are basically no facial details), sleeves, kneepads, and vest.
