The ball joints were giving me some trouble, as they are made of that PE plastic that nothing will stick to. I ended up have to remove the joints and dye them black. It sucked haveing to cut him up, but, joint rub is no longer an issue. Definitely one of the dirtier paint jobs I have done on a figure. I painted a lot of him with my fingers, really. I still haven't painted the gun just because it doesn't look bad as is. I may get around to it.
The mold on this figure is fantastic. Great detailing. I wish he was a little bigger. He's pretty small compared to most of my other figures. I'm thinking the scale he's in is around 1:20th. He's close to seven feet in the game, it looks like, and the figure stands at 3 and 7/8 inch which is about right in 1:20th scale, assuming 3 and 3/4 = 6 foot 3. When I was little, I always imagined that Mandalorians specialized in hunting Jedi. In fact the Great Purge was when they earned their rep. I also imagined (based on the way Boba Fett's armor looked) that every Mandalorian's armor looked different based on their specialty. One of the many thing they messed up in PT era media is that they made the Mandalorians' armor look pretty much all like Jango Fett.
In that vein, this custom is a hodgepodge of a bunch different armor pieces. The base figure is Marvel legends Ultimate War machine. The rest is odds and ends from figures including Neca predator and gears of war and Movie masters Bruce wayne.

I'm incredibly excited about the new 6-inch Star wars figures that are coming out. I did this one to tide me over until Hasbro gives us an official version.
Unlike my Jabba's palace Luke, I tried to use as many Hasbro parts as possible in the hopes that it will be close to what the official release will look like. He's made up mostly of the winter soldier, with upper arms from Nick Fury and forearms from Prof. X.
When I first saw the Black series X-wing Luke, I thought it looked like a scaled up version of the smaller figure with more detailed sculpting. So I used the 3-3/4 scale version as a model for how to make the uniform a little more interesting. I also changed the shape of the shoulders so that the silhouette looked right
This one is properly in scale with Marvel Legends. The first head I used was a little bigger so my Jabba's palace Luke is more a short 7 inch scaled toy.

So on to the business. A long time ago I took this model and dusted it in black an accented some areas that needed some life. I never thought I'd get back around to my full intentions but yesterday I ran the entire trilogy through the old Xbox and got cracking.
First I completely disassembled the falcon into top bottom and interior... Bye Bye electronics... You will be missed. I took all the interior pieces and gave then a deep black wash. Like my previous Star Wars repaint, the base of this Hasbro toy was pretty decent, but the paint left it feeling a little flat. I painted all of the creases in the hull with black and brown, then wiped clean. I painted on some more little details throughout the ship's hull, then dry brushed all over for that rusted, battle damage look, and then painted some silver spots to give the effect of hull paint chipping. I repainted all of the missiles on the ship for depth, and dry brushed the engines with silver and black to look more metal. This time we have the Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 Starfighter, or the A.R.C. 170 fighter featured in Star Wars Episode III. This ship was an early model of what later became an X-wing, and was flown by 2 clone pilots, a clone gunman, and an R-unit.
There was really nothing wrong with the ship from Hasbro, it just seemed a bit matte and plain to me, and I wanted it to look a little more realistic, and that it had seen some action. First thing was, I wanted to make the metal look, well, metal....so I gave everything that was grey a black paint job following by a metallic silver dry-brush to give the gun metal look. Then I painted over all of the seams of the hull with black and then wiped clean, leaving the seams look a bit rusted and used. After that it was time for the battle damage... ![[Dagobah Training] Hi All,
I haven't done a Star Wars dio for a while and while I was looking thru my parts box I came across Luke and Yoda and decided I would make the dio pictured.
RECIPE
Luke & Yoda - Both figures are the older OTC Dagobah Training figures and I used them straight out of the package as even now they are great looking figures.
I superglued what joints they had and then covered them with putty, I painted them using Vallejo and GW paints and weathered them using Vallejo paints and pastels.
Base - Is an old Sideshow Star Wars base and I used modelling clay and plaster of Paris to build the ground work up. Once the plaster dried I then used dried up potty mix for the soil as this is perfect for swamp areas.
When the potty mix had dried I used Woodland Sccenics realistic water and lightly covered the potty mix to give it a damp feel to it.
