Any time you think, "This will be an easy one," put it back in the box. I reposed him, cutting all the joints, even separating the toes, and gave him a neck. I also sawed open his jaw and built a row of teeth. I used a woodburning tool to cut every fissure deeper, then divided the big scales to be more uniform. Only then did I realize his head was too small and his chest too shallow. So I cut new scales (scutes? That's what a turtle's plates are called) by hand from a curved toothbrush case. I covered his head and chest with a new depth of scales, which meant building up his brow and jaw, so had to cut another layer of teeth. I also had to reduce his fist by half. The scales were too smooth, so after some experimentation, used Goop from a hardware store to crown them. Finally I thickened acrylic paint with baby powder to rough-finish the old scales and fill the gaps between the new scales. ![[Mega's Human Torch Repaint] I found this figure in a toy box at a local garage sale. He was at the bottom of the box and covered in mud. I dusted him off and asked the seller how much they wanted for him. They told me 75 cents. I lied and told him all I had was a quarter. I got the figure for a quarter and headed home with my find and a few others. After a wash and soapy toothbrush bath, he was clean and neat and still lit up!
After letting him air dry I grabbed some testors gold acryl and started dry brushing. (I had seen someone else do this on the site)But I didn't stop there. I continued on with clear red, guards red, international orange and some amber. I was pretty pleased with the out come and decided to share him with all of you. We added firestorms head to marvel legends super skrull, we got rid of the black lines on the body of the super skroll, added flames, and paint details such as highlights. Then we opened him up and added red led lights to the figure. Also we did a custom light up base, this base is from a marvel legends character, we used some heating and plastic adding to make the base a little higher so it will look like it is actually covering human torch, also painted it and added highlights. We had the figure that came in the LCBH 2 pack with the Panda girl and wanted to use it for something and The Thing in poker wear seemed like a natural fit.
The head is a complete resculpt of the base figures and is near a complete match to the shirts design. The upper arms are also fully sculpted, with a total sculpting time of near 8hrs of work.
He was based brown then brushed orange and a final coat of yellow. The pants were based brown then brushed with a light Khaki.

This is my version of fastfreddie's PERFECT recipe. He was made from a ML 2 Human Torch with the hair sanded off and the head smoothed out. The fire is sheet styrene, cut and covered in hot glue. I used a thin brass bar and a block of wood for the base.
Both the Human Torch and the fire are completely removable. The coolest part is that when you shine a light on the back of the fire, it glows!

This was a project I'd been pondering for a long time. I love the character designs in most of Marvel Studios' movies, and Galactus was no exception. I mean, the only thing big enough to actually engulf an entire planet would be a storm, right? Anyway, I wanted some representation of the design on my shelf, but had no idea of how to go about making it.
Since it was a silly idea to try and make an "in-scale" version of what would basically be a big cloud, I decided an interpretation would have to suffice. I started with two large pieces of Styro-Foam: a sphere, and a cone. I cut off a piece of a wooden dowel and jammed it into the top of the cone, leaving about half the length exposed. Then I cut a hole into the bottom of the sphere, and carefully slid the cone inside. The dowel connected the two pieces, and insured that they would remain attached to one-another. Now comes the fun part.
I took the large "skeleton" outside and sprayed craft glue all over it.](userimages/customs/15500/15275-1.jpg) Gah Lak Tus (Movie) Fantastic Fourby evanjones1Hey!
