![[Traditional Ninja] I had this head from a LOTR easterling figure laying around for a while and always thought it would make a good ninja head. So I jumped at the chance to make a custom for this contest. I really wanted a realistic looking traditional ninja, but I wanted to make it versatile enough to double as a general "martial artist." Anyways I used the Marvel Legends Namor figure, removed the vest and added those pink pointy things. I carved the feet for the split toe shoes, used shorts from a Sigma Six "Hi-Tech" figure and shirt from some wrestling figure. I carved down and wrapped the head, forearms, and calves with ribbon and used thread on the feet. My original plans were a little more ambitious than the outcome as I have run short of time, I originally wanted two interchangeable heads with one at least resembling the late Bruce Lee. Of course I have not found a suitable head to fit the scale, still looking....I also wanted to put some exotic oriental tattoos on the tor](userimages/customs/2000/1885-1.jpg) Traditional Ninja Originalby MaelstromI had this head from a LOTR easterling figure laying around for a while and always thought it would make a good ninja head. I used a Scorpion Assassin from the same line for the body structure and used a SLEEPY HOLLOW headless horseman's skull for the head (on which the helmet fits nicely). The armour is mostly from the Jackal Assassin with other additional pieces and fur from the Scorpion Assassin.](userimages/customs/2000/1735-1.jpg) Demon Samurai Spawnby MaelstromThe Jackal Assasin from the Spawn Samurai Wars Has some great "authentic looking" samurai armour, but I was greatly disappointed in the figu...4 comments |
![[Conan the Cimmerian] O.K. so I am a huge Conan fan...Well here's a little chop job to Mcfarlane's Conan statue. I wanted to achieve a balance which maintained as much of the original appearance of the TMP statue (minus the hunched over shrugging pose) as well as the descriptions and visuals surrounding Robert E. Howard's story-The Frost Giant's Daughter. For the waist and below, I used the hips and legs of a viking spawn (with Conan leggings of course). I had to build up the left side of conan's face as the original hunching pose had him trying to kiss his shoulder or something, and I made a few little tweaks like turning the horns on the helmet upwards and using an Attila the Hun arm bracelet on the right arm. I added an extra row of leather scales to the abdomen, which I think helped eliminate the hunching look of the torso. This one was a while in the making simply because I couldn't decide how to proceed with the shoulders. I opted to use another WWE deluxe aggression figure for the shoulders and](userimages/customs/2000/1532-1.jpg) Conan the Cimmerian Conanby MaelstromO.K. so I am a huge Conan fan...Well here's a little chop job to Mcfarlane's Conan statue. This is Pallantides, King Conan's General over the Black Dragons. This was a fairly easy custom except for the leathern breechcloth and the boots. I did not particularly care for the extra cloth draped over the left leg and it would have presented a problem trying to make it look right when the figure was standing straight, so I improvised and tried to make the breechcloth look more uniform (it took 2 Pallantides original figures to make one full breechcloth) As for the boots, I had to carve and hollow out the originals and cut to fit the WWF figure's feet to fit the armoured toe plates. I also took the liberty of painting the hair tufts on the helmet red as that is the way the Black Dragons are presented in the Dark Horse comics series (Demons of Khitai)...More Conan to come in the near future....](userimages/customs/1500/1427-1.jpg) Pallantides Conanby MaelstromWhile McFarlane's Conan series is extremely detailed, again there is little or no articulation. ![[King Conan] This is Conan as King in battle armour as described in Robert E. Howard's stories. The base figure was a WWE Deluxe Agression Kurt Angle. The chain mail hauberk and chest armour is from a Lord of the Rings Uruk-Hai archer. I had to reconstruct the left side of the face as there is a huge recess on the original figure where Conan's fist is rested.
