![[Wonder Man] An entry for CustomCon 30, this was the 6th version of Wonder Man I've made, spurred on by finding some cheap DCUC figures. Luke Cage legs & forearms, Mr. Terrific upper arms, Dr. Midnite torso, Quicksilver head. The rest of the parts were random fodder. Bit of sculpting, some styrene shades and a paintjob later, and I'm left with possibly my favourite version to date.](userimages/customs/35500/35039-1.jpg) Wonder Man | ![[She-Hulk] Just a mod of the Hasbro She-Hulk. Cut in bicep joints and added double elbows, swapped the hands for DCUC fists, added shin joints and swapped the lower legs for Moon Knight boots, then a total repaint. She's much more in line with the classic Toybiz Legends now, articulation-wise.](userimages/customs/34500/34399-1.jpg) She-Hulk |
![[Stilt-Man] This was the second Stilt-Man I made, around late 2008. The first one clocked in at a maximum 5', but this one's has a more managable 3' maximum height. ML Yellowjacket with styrene sheet detailing. The legs are PVC tubing, cut to length and joined using wooden dowel. These are modular, so the height can be adjusted from 12" up to 36". The feet have custom-made balljoints so he can stand on uneven surfaces.](userimages/customs/34000/33520-1.jpg) Stilt-Man | ![[Idie Okonkwo] Idie Okonkwo is one of the "Five Lights", and apparently now a member of the X-Men. She's capable of temperature maniputlation, or something. To be honest, I have no idea. I just liked her design...
Streetfighter Sakura, with X-23 head, arms, upper torso & boots, Invisible Woman forearms and Psylocke shins. Fairly simple custom - the paintjob and sculpting the afro were the trickiest parts.](userimages/customs/33000/32916-1.jpg) Idie Okonkwo |
![[Grim Reaper] A pretty standard custom, quite a few Reapers use this basic recipe. Bullseye head, body is basically the Bullseye buck, but the parts came from Bullseye, Moon Knight, Black Spidey, Captain Marvel, Yellowjacket, Quicksilver, Union Jack & Deadpool. Basically whatever I could piece together from the fodder box. Cape is a cut-down DCUC Superman cape, head wings are styrene sheet and the scythe is styrene rod & sheet, with a steel core for strength, mounted into a Weapon X stump. Dyed the figure navy, then gave it a few drybrushes of a lighter, slightly metallic blue with a little purple mixed in.](userimages/customs/33000/32700-1.jpg) Grim Reaper | ![[The Thing] This is an old, old custom that I recently updated. ML11 Thing, totally resculpted, with head from ML2 Thing. Added new wrist joints made from SMC Juggernaut elbows and added boxset Thing hands, then gave it a total repaint. He's a little small for a modern Thing, but spot-on for a classic Byrne-style Ben.](userimages/customs/33000/32568-1.jpg) The Thing |
![[Puck] Yeah, another Puck, 95% identical to the last one. He's been sitting, headless, in the WIP pile for the last couple of months. MU Juggernaut, with Sandman head and random hands (I think they might be from a Streetfighter figure). Modded the feet & ankles so they're like the MU ankle joint - angled peg going into a socket in the foot. That's pretty much it. With the upcoming MU Puck, I'll never have to make another custom version.](userimages/customs/32500/32390-1.jpg) Puck | ![[WWII Captain America] Finally picked up my first 3.75" figure (for myself, anyway) - WWII Cap from the movie line. It was half-price, and I wanted to see how exactly the ankles worked so I could copy 'em... Anywhoo, turns out it's an excellent sculpt with some great articulation. Sadly, the shoulder and hip joints on mine were gummed with flash, and it had an appalling paintjob. I figured if I was taking it apart, I might as well give it a repaint. I've got him on the ML1 Cap base - it's much more in scale to the smaller figure, and makes a nice mini-dio.](userimages/customs/32500/32353-1.jpg) WWII Captain America |
![[Krang's Android Body] Krang is a full sculpt in Apoxie & Kneadatite, with a walker made of random fodder pieces. His android body is a Jakks Samoa Joe with Hasbro Juggernaut feet and DCSH Darkseid hands. Everything on the figure was sculpted in either Apoxie or Kneadatite. The torso console and shoulder armour is made of styrene sheets & strips and the straps are craft foam.](userimages/customs/32500/32154-1.jpg) Krang's Android Body | ![[Jubilee] Another old custom... X-23 body, heavily resculpted. Gloves are from Storm, feet from Psylocke. The jacket was (I think) from Gambit, cut down and resculpted. The sleeves are glovecuffs from DCUC Red Tornado, which work surprisingly well...](userimages/customs/32500/32054-1.jpg) Jubilee |
![[Yellowjacket] This was the first MU-scale custom I did. Sanded all the red paint off Guardian, dyed the figure yellow, added the wings and sculpted the head. Also added thigh cut joints (although they're a little wonky). Universe scale is a lot less forgiving than 6"...](userimages/customs/32500/32053-1.jpg) Yellowjacket | ![[Forbush Man] Ah, Forbush Man... I pine for that unreleased prototype on a daily basis. There's little chance of ever getting a figure of him now, so I knew I had to make one myself. The body's a LOTR Hobbit, no idea which one. Feet are from Winter Soldier, hands from a DC Direct Flash and cape from Dr. Strange. Sculpted the boots, longjohns & costume details, made the head from styrene.](userimages/customs/31500/31375-1.jpg) Forbush Man |
![[U.S. Agent] This custom was dead simple. Face Off Punisher body, Bullseye head, DCUC Red Tornado lower legs. Painting the chest was the most time-consuming part - paint the white, seal it, mask it off, paint the red, seal, mask, etc...](userimages/customs/31500/31295-1.jpg) U.S. Agent | ![[Squirrel Girl] This is a pretty old custom - I made her about 4 years ago. Squirrel Girl's one of my favourite Marvel characters, mainly 'cause she's just so goofy...
Psylocke body, Wasp head, sculpted fur, modded face, tail is faux fur over a wire armature mounted onto a swivel. Monkey Joe was a full sculpt. Looking a little outdated these days, so I may update her in the near future...](userimages/customs/31500/31294-1.jpg) Squirrel Girl |
![[Kitty Pryde, Sprite] Pretty simple custom, X-23 body with a few mods, Scarlet Witch boots, Kitty arms and a head from an old Buffy Cordelia figure. It was the head that gave me the idea for the custom - it looked a lot like Paul Smith's version of Kitty from UXM #168, one of my favourite issues.](userimages/customs/31500/31061-1.jpg) Kitty Pryde, Sprite | ![[Ninja] Just a random, generic ninja, 'cause everyone loves ninjas. Base is Captain Marvel with Doc Strange arms and Daredevil forearms. Sculpted the robes out of apoxie and made the nunchaku, katanas and kusarigama out of styrene sheet & rod.](userimages/customs/31500/31060-1.jpg) Ninja |
![[The Shredder] Head is LCBH Madman, torso is SOTA Vega, legs are ML Captain Marvel, feet are ML She-Hulk with ankle joints from LCBH Witchblade, hands are DCUC Red Tornado, arms are from 2 Toybiz TNA wrestlers, sash is from ML Elektra. Armour is plasticard & apoxie.
The only parts with no mods are the biceps. The shoulder armour is mounted onto 2 rods that run through the shoulder (lost a little movement, but it looks better than mounting them onto the torso). Luckily, when I made my last Shredder I made a set of blades that were too big - I kept those and was able to use them for this custom, which saved me a shedload of time.](userimages/customs/31000/30981-1.jpg) The Shredder | ![[Big Bertha] She's mainly Blob, with Union Jack shins & feet, Ann O'Brian wrists & hands and face. Smoothed out the legs and sculpted the ankles, wrists and titties with milliput. The ankles & wrists were set into the limbs, which was pretty much the only way I could think of doing it without losing articulation. It works alright, but the ankles are a little looser than I'd like.
The head was a challenge - I took the O'Brien head and cut the face off, then dremeled it out until it was as thin as possible. Then I heated it, stretched it a little, fixed it into place and sculpted around it. The hair's green stuff. Lost the neck articulation, but it's not a huge deal.
At least I have the full GLA now...](userimages/customs/31000/30583-1.jpg) Big Bertha |
![[Scarlet Witch] This started out as an exercise in sculpting a female body. I'd put together some random bits of fodder without really knowing where I was going, and the more I added the more it suggested Wanda.
The head & cape are from the original Toybiz SW. The upper torso is X-23, ribcage to waist is Spider-Woman and waist to crotch is Storm. These were all heavily sanded down and totally sculpted over, with a new joint built at just under the boobs (tried to get ball joint-like movement in there but I fudged up, so it's merely a swivel). The legs are also from Storm, with the thighs sanded & re-sculpted. The arms are Psylocke, and the feet are from Emma Frost. Neck's a little long, but the cape hides it somewhat, and it does mean that the neck joint has excellent range.
Paint was a bugger - the red went on smooth enough, but the pink just would not cover (it's a mixture of Citadel Skull White and Mechrite Red, both of which normally have excellent coverage). I ended up spending a whole](userimages/customs/31000/30582-1.jpg) Scarlet Witch | ![[A.I.M. Trooper] This was a very quick and simple custom. I was given a broken Madman a couple of days ago (the waist & neck joints had snapped), and thought that a totally white figure was as good a base for an A.I.M. guy as any. Like I say, it was very quick - about 6 hours in total - and quite rough in places (which is why there's no photo of the back, as the join of the collar and belt is a bit of a mess).
All LCBH Madman, with Moon Knight forearms. Dyed the whole figure yellow, then gave it a coat of yellow car paint. The head's a rubber base from a walking stick, sanded down and sculpted over. The belt is vinyl, collar is craft foam and piping is wire. I'm happy enough with how it turned out - it's the first custom I've made for myself in quite some time, and considering he's just there to flank MODOK, he'll do.](userimages/customs/30500/30329-1.jpg) A.I.M. Trooper |
![[Daredevil] This was pretty simple, TNA Sonjay Dutt base with Face-Off DD head, Hasbro DD feet and WWE hands. Modded the Hasbro-style joints on the feet, they've now got great motion - swivel and rocker. Belts & straps are vinyl, 2 sets of billy clubs are styrene tube.](userimages/customs/30500/30237-1.jpg) Daredevil | ![[Namor, the Submariner] Basically a Mattel WWE Elite guy with the shins & feet from a Jakks UFC guy. That's about as specific as I can get. Majorly resculpted the head, sculpted the trunks. Ankle wings are from a Thor helmet, moulded & cast, then mounted through the ankle joint. A little tall, but he looks good with the Defenders.](userimages/customs/30500/30013-1.jpg) Namor, the Submariner |
![[Dragon Man] This was basically all LCBH Pitt with a metric shedload of Milliput and Apoxie. Modded the feet & hands, resculpted the legs & back, sculpted the head and added wings from Annihilus, mounted in ball-sockets. He's much more in scale with Legends than the FFC version, and cost a lot less...](userimages/customs/30000/29972-1.jpg) Dragon Man | ![[Jean Grey] Every customizer has to make a Jim Lee-style Jean Grey at some point - I think it's the law or something...
Started off with a ML Psylocke, added a LCBH Witchblade head, sculpted a few details and was done - a very quick & easy custom.](userimages/customs/30000/29862-1.jpg) Jean Grey |
![[Awesome Andy] This was a pretty simple custom - it's all ML9 FA Hulk. Sculpted the shirt, bottom of the pants, belt, tie and head. The CPU display is styrene sheet and has 7 removable display options. The head could've done with being a little bigger, but I think it captures the essence of Andy quite well...](userimages/customs/30000/29861-1.jpg) Awesome Andy | ![[Loki] He's a green Quicksilver with 2-pack Wolverine forearms and lower legs. The shoulder-thingy is cut down from the similar piece on Bullseye. Head's a 'Ringo Mr. Fantastic - the smug grin worked perfectly for Loki. Sculpted the scales, helmet and resculpted the cheeks & chin. Had real trouble with the gold paint - even diluted, it kept drying too fast, and it ended up looking a little rough in places. Still, I love how the green and gold really "pop".](userimages/customs/30000/29568-1.jpg) Loki |
![[Puck] He's all Juggernaut, except for WWE wrestler hands, DCSH Darkseid feet and a Lord Thor head (which lent itself well to Puck - the facial hair and shape of the helmet meant I had to do very little resculpting there). Sculpted the wrist bracers out of Apoxie to hide the ugly, ugly wrist joints I had to rig, and added lots of hair using a 0.05mm pen with a light drybrush on top.
He's a little big overall to fit in with Legends - he's in more of a 7" scale. But I like the overall shape and bulkiness, and think it works pretty well for Puck.](userimages/customs/30000/29567-1.jpg) Puck | ![[Kitty Pryde, Shadowcat] This was an... interesting project. This is the third revision of this custom in as many weeks - the first 2 had problems with both the proportions of the upper body and puffiness of the costume, and realising I couldn't improve it further I decided to rebuild.
The head and body came from the ML Kitty. The upper torso from Emma Frost. Legs from Psylocke. Arms from X3 Phoenix. Hair from Spider-Woman. Shortened the chest, waist and legs, and extended the arms in order to get the proportions right.
Lockheed is a full sculpt with wings from a rubber bat. He can either sit, or float on a custom-built clear stand.
This custom took a lot of work, with more than it's fair share of problems, but I think the end result is worth it...](userimages/customs/29000/28724-1.jpg) Kitty Pryde, Shadowcat |
![[X-Force Wolverine] He's all ML12 Wolverine with Ultimate Wolvie hips & legs. Resculpted the costume lines on the torso, but other than that it's pretty much all paintwork. The black parts of the costume have a pearlescent finish with a silver drybrush (same method I used for Black Cat), and the plain black parts have a gloss finish. Other than that, quite a nice & easy custom...](userimages/customs/28500/28332-1.jpg) X-Force Wolverine | ![[X-Force X-23] I finally found a use for the Emma Frost I've had lying around unopened for years...
Used the Emma Frost torso & legs, with a Psylocke upper torso, Invisible Woman shoulders and X23 head, arms and boots. Had to do a bit of modding to get the Psylocke chest to fit on Emma's torso, but I reworked the peg joint so there's rotation along with forward/back movement - there's quite a good range of motion there, better than on any of the other female figures that use that type of joint. Sculpted the costume details on the upper torso and gave her the same paintjob as Wolverine.](userimages/customs/28500/28331-1.jpg) X-Force X-23 |
