![[Ursa Major] I love the Soviet Super Soldiers. Their first appearance was in The Incredible Hulk #258 (Apr 1981). created by Bill Mantlo and Sal Buscema. Ursa Major was a hulk-like Russian hero. Instead of transforming into a big, green monster he turned into a big ol' bear! I don't know if he was a grizzly or kodiak!
Some info about Mikhail Ursus:
Ursus is a mutant with the power to transform himself into a brown bear. While in his bear form he can press about 15 tons and has the heightened reflexes, senses, stamina, and resistance to injury many times that of a normal brown bear. His human intellect and the ability to speak remains with him while he is in this bear form. It is unknown how long he can remain in his bear form.
My Recipe called for:
A Marvel Legends Hulk series Wendigo!
One toy bear(I didn't think I should attempt to sculpt one!)
I took the head off Wendigo, cut the head off the bear just below his neckline where it would still rotate
I removed the bears arms and legs

That was followed up by a lot of hand detailing and drybrushing of lime greens and some ivory colors for the armor plates. As I was painting him, I got the inspiration for a molten slag base. I used a piece of wood and newspaper taped down and covered with some Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty. After that stuff dried I primed it with some Valspar grey primer followed by a coat of Rust-oleum Metallic bright coat chrome. I then added transparent yellow, then orange and red, followed by some transparent black and a high gloss coat sealer. I wanted it to look like molten lava slag. Underneath his jovial exterior, lies a cunning and utterly ruthless intellect shaped by war and a horrific upbringing. He's the only man who could consistently go head-to-head against the Punisher and win (at least temporarily)
This was a figure that I've wanted in my collection for over 3 years (ever since the character appeared in the comics). It took me years to figure out a workable recipe and that would give the exaggerated look like in the comics. His hands and legs are smaller as that's the way Goran Parlov draws him in the comics!
One thing I hate about most 1/6th scale (12") muscle bodies is their limited articulation. So with this figure, I wanted to do extreme muscle but show that articulation could be maintained (ie, double jointed elbows!)

The Hellspawn base figure was perfect for this.
*Had to carefully carve out (using an X-Acto knife) most of the Spawn face mask and the "M" that runs across the front and back of the body as these were sculpted on the original figure.
*Then, using Aves Apoxie, filled in the carved grooves on the head, chest and back. I also added a "boot" on his left leg as the original figure does not have one. Added some small pieces of fodder to the left boot, including a small screw.
*I then gave this bad boy a complete repaint to bring out the details. The white spider was a monster to paint, but I'm happy with the results.

Finding her base was easy after I researched her and found that she's an amazon at 6'3. I chose the Fing Fang Foom She Hulk because of her curves and the skin tone matched Morgan's dress. That way I wouldn't have to do a lot of painting. Just some light brushing over with a different shade of green for a little texture. I filed down her bra in the middle to even out with her breasts. I taped off the inner borders of her dress and used Tamiya flesh spray paint for the dip, legs and hands. The head is a variant red haired Maria Hill head that matched the skin tone. I do agree whenever somebody says that the McF Spidey is the best factory Spidey ever produced. My only problem with that fig is its scrawny-ness (see the comparison shot with a Fearsome Foes Spidey with a BA head). With that, I made this custom. I just basically put together the recipe, shaved some parts of the neck peg to allow easy head-swapping, sculpted the muscles for the thigh and shortened one of the Sinister 6 Spidey lower legs since one is a little taller than the other. I also resculpted some parts of the Dr. Strange head to give him a youthful look... I also thought it could be fun to give him some removable web shooters... I originally wanted to give him a new head but I can't find one in time. There you go, my slightly, yet, not overtly muscular Spider-Man!
