![[Devilman: Akira Fudo Apocalypse Age] This was an off shoot idea from the Devilman series, where the characters wore battle-armor in the siege for Heaven and Earth. Akira, now leader of the SunMoon Sect, in alliance with Omen and his soldiers, combat the legions of Satan's army.
Got a lot of inspiration from the Saint Seiya myth figures while making this one. The original sculpt work on the base figure was phenomenal so didn't mess with it. Just highlighted with some rust and copper tones. The spikes coming out from his knees are a pair of horns from the McFarlane Horrid. The spear belongs to Purgatori, and the sword from a Redeemer Spawn, added links of chain around the neck. Only the head came from the Fewture Akira figure, with resculpted hair. Just cut spikes of plastic, glued on, sculpted over, repainted.
Thanks for having a look, more Devilman customs for next time.

Just by changing their color scheme, they would give an entirely new mood and collectibility to the figures.
A lot of minor detail went into making this Satan figure to get it prepped for war against Heaven.
The beautifully sculpted wings were from a Mcfarlane Redeemer, and his shoulder brace came from the Mcfarlane Black Knight. Added chains, some with skulls and the Satan's Claw belonged to a Mcfarlane Horrid. Found the chest plate in a box of fodder, and decided to use it as a way to cover up his boobs for chrissakes. Got this war paint look inspired by fantasy artist BROM - has that archaic warrior-tribe theme (think MadMax). This variant has been renamed "Heaven Armageddon".

![[Devilman: Omen the Abattoir] The twin brother of Damien, Omen is a mute savant that becomes most alive when engaged in battlefield massacres. Known also as the Juggernaut among his soldiers, he is often teased as the "baby". He is branded this nickname for he has obliged numerous incestuous occasions with mother. A serious Oedipus head-case which his mother Silene had imbued since childhood. She can't help feeling this way for him. Omen possesses her rage.
He was later killed by Satan, in battle, trying to avenge the death of his mother.

A once brilliant prodigy at the height of his sorcery, Damien was challenged by the Archangel Q'hauviz to come up with a spell that would erase existence. Damien labored for an incantation but in the end, failed to conjure one.
He eventually realized that the only way to truly wipe out existence was to eliminate his own. By being dead, life no longer existed. Realizing this, he understood that Q'hauviz had insulted him to die. Damien knew that existence would undoubtedly continue to tread on to infinity, regardless of his death. But death would surely free him from existence as he knew it. So the only way to cease life was to take his own. As a demi-god, death did not come easy for Damien.
Wanting to fulfill death, laughing at the idea, he submersed himself in ritualistic burning. His obsession with death and the rush of embracing the finale consumed him. Worst of all, he made Death work hard to take him. Got the Wings from an Ariel Darkchylde, replaced his left hand with a Mcfarlane Spellcaster's and painted dragon scales for tattoos. Loved the anime of this character also, one bad @$$ anti-hero!!! Used Hercules body, made him a quadruple ampute (Ouch)and dremeled his beard, then used Annihilus BAF's legs and arms. I then put articulation on both wrist and both legs. Sculpted all them spikes on he's arms and legs and belt area, also sculpted the head wings and all that stuff there. Used some dragon wings on him, painted it red in the inside while his devil's tail is from an old school Aliens toy. Painted both arms and legs black, washed it with brown then washed it again with red. Body was painted light blue, then washed with a darker hue than the paint used. Did not sand the scupt to give a more grit look on him... hope you guys liked it. Love making this custom, lots of love in it... ![[Devilman: Devilman Sub-Zero] The original piece was a towering 1/6 scale Garage Kit done by none other than Nirasawa. It was a very popular model kit that kicked off the release of the Fewture Devilman action figure line. Nirasawa had just seen an Iggy Pop concert and got the idea to use Iggy's physique to design the sculpture.
For this custom version, the top half of the McFarlane Vampire figure was attached to the lower torso of an Akira Fudo figure. The head came from an anime version of Devilman and his ears, hands and body have been re-sculpted to resemble the pose of the original sculpture. It's painted in acrylic and his accessories came from random parts. Considered more a cartoon version, it's been renamed the "Sub-zero Emotion" variant.](userimages/customs/4500/4289-1.jpg) Devilman: Devilman Sub-Zero Devilmanby N TTThe original piece was a towering 1/6 scale Garage Kit done by none other than Nirasawa. It terrorizes cities and puts it all on Devilman's tab.
Re-sculpted the ears to look more like wings, re-sculpted the wings to add more definition and used auto-body paint (cerulean blue)on the inner wings and body. The wings can be easily removed in order to turn the head.

![[Devilman: Welvath] In the cartoon series, Welvath started it all. She was the first human to be infected by the virus changing her into a demon and cutting loose, devouring everybody in the nightclub. This variant shows her in mid-transformation, just moments before she becomes a full-on succubus. She was eventually killed by Devilman, being his first victim.
Modifications were made on a Darkchylde figure, wrapping the legs in faux leather for a biker chic look, and adding a piece of feather boa around the neck. The original Welvath figure had arms like the jaws from a caiman and is way more appalling to behold. This is a much more toned down version than the original, and is intended to be more goth than gross. Renamed the "Feather Heathen" variant, this demon's been resurrected yet again. With this custom, only the head piece came from the original set. Used parts from a Rhino Alien for extra armor on the body of the Venom Symbiote. Blacker than black rabbit fur, bought from a textile store, was glued around the head and arms, trimmed with shears.
As one of the core characters in the Devilman series, Dante as a completed figure was very expensive to acquire and even more difficult to get all the pieces. ![[Devilman: Psychogenie] This character has to rank among some of the strangest looking ever conceived. Originally designed as a mystic being in Go Nagai's Devilman cartoon, made famous in the early '70s, Psychogenie was Satan's advisor, mentor, and power source.
Using a 12 inch Invisible Woman figure, the large face mold was glued then sculpted onto the upper body portion. The mold is a cast of the actress Scarlett Johansson's face and was sculpted out of resin by a local street artist. It was bought unpainted so matte black acrylic mixed with a bit of silver was applied. Diluted gold was used to highlight the lips and in the open eye. The hair framed around the face were chunks cut from a kid-size basketball, with some minor sculpting to hold them securely in place. Extra Predator's braids have been added giving the figure a full 14 inches in height. Clear gloss acrylic mixed with sparklies were painted over the body giving a translucent effect. Satan is shown here bronco riding one of his fave beasties. Took a McFarlane Mr. Obersmith figure and twisted his torso upside down (yeah, that sounds just as bad in Japanese)cut the top portion of the head and attached the upper torso of the Ryo figure. Ryo is Satan in his non-transformed persona. Wings from a ArtFX Gabriel figure were heavy and needed to be sculpted to the back.
In one of the episodes, Satan was in need of a ferocious beast to ride, something so mad with contempt that it defied command. Additional Spawn (3) worms from a Raenis fig. have been drilled into its ribcage. They're re-painted bendies and add to its monstrosity. In order to ride this demon, Satan conquered its weakest spot - its mind - and literally over took it. ![[Devilman: Zann] One of the more underrated toy lines is the Fewture Devilman series. It never really achieved commercial success in North America, most likely due to poor marketing. But these figures boast some of the best sculpting in the industry with works by Yuji Oniki, and of course, Nirasawa, the master.
With each new series released, the demons & devils they made just got sicker and more beautiful to behold. And each figure would feature at least 4 different variants (colorwise) with cool names like "666 Ghost Glow" for the glow-in-the-dark variant, "Night Damned" for a transparent starry purple variant, or "Dragon Kind" for a red/green variant, etc.
Nirasawa's book Devilman: The List documents all the variants (plus custom variants by the sculptor!) in colorful detail. Fans of his work might also enjoy his Creature Core book - a collection of his model kits. Sick, otherworldly and glam-goth.

To take it one step further, this Tribal Devilman figure has been given the full piercing treatment! Some research was done into the culture of piercings, and even small details (like the Prince Albert!) has not been overlooked. The studs & hoops have been firmly attached with a nuke proof adhesive. Some of the hoops have been sculpted over with apoxie to resemble skin. The nail was cut in half and placed on either side of the mouth, and wasn't actually pushed through. And just like the Fewture line figures with their variant names, this custom has been renamed the "Pierced Anarchist" variant.
