![[The Kraken] I made this sculpt months ago, it may not be 100% screen accurate but I am so pleased with how this turned out. I only wanted to sculpt a few tentacles and the Kraken's maw with the rest of the beast "underwater" so that I could use it in the background of my Pirates of the Caribbean figure display, so it is essentially a glorified prop rather than a figure I guess. I couldn't make it too scale for obvious reasons, but it still looks great rising up next too my 6inch Pirates figures (maybe its a baby Kraken?) and I could put it with my smaller figures if I choose too. I include picture of my Pirates collection, the Kraken is rising up on the right behind Will & Elizabeth. (also included in the picture is my Syrena the mermaid custom which can also be found in my customs on here)

She started life as an Adult Superstars Nikita Denise action figure. I removed the legs, sanded down and smoothed her scowling eyebrows, her "chest details"(the mermaids had scales covering their modesty in the film) and sculpted her tail out of super sculpey over a strong wire frame. The hair is a mix of the original figures hair and LotR Arwen and Galadriel's hair which I glued and blended together. She was then painted with a mix of acrylics and varnished. She is approx 10 inches from top of head to the tip of her fin, but is roughly in scale with the 7 inch figures released by Neca and Jakks Pacific.
I am so proud of her, hope you like her too.](userimages/customs/48500/48355-1.jpg) Syrena the Mermaid |

![[Pirates IV: Rico] I loved using the Jakks figures as fodder for updating the characters, but I also loved the fodder potential they provided. It's definitely made buying the multipacks very worthwhile. So I decided to get to work rounding out my pirate crew. So let's meet the new pirate dog: Rico!
Rico is a young recruit. A skilled seaman who grew up on a ship, Rico has many skills. But by far his most significant is his eye. His uniquely keen sight has made him a perfect lookout and his comfort on the ropes let him be very comfortable in the crows nest.

I loved using the Jakks figures as fodder for updating the characters, but I also loved the fodder potential they provided. It definitely made buying the multipacks very worthwhile. So I decided to get to work rounding out my pirate crew. Here's my first original pirate: Marcus
Marcus is a burly and surly pirate. He made a name for himself by leading a mutiny on a slaver ship in his youth and made a living aboard smuggling ships. He isn't the most skilled with a sword, but he makes up for it with his expert marksmanship.

![[Pirates IV: Angelica] Here's Blackbeard's daughter, the fierce pirate, Angelica!
I loved the look of this figure, but was really underwhelmed by Jakks' offering. Like Blackbeard I kept the torso and effects, but swapped the arms and legs. Hot glue again for the arms. The lower torso was transplanted from an MU figure, but to fit I had to do some carving into the torso. Hot glue here again to retain waist articulation.

Jakks' Blackbeard was a cool start, but a bit stumpy. First thing I did was get rid of those arms and legs. I used the hot glue trick to transplant XMO Sabertooth's arms. These added length and articulation. I then put Blackbeard's cuffs on and swapped his hands for some Joe hands.
Next I looked at the legs. I didn't like how all the figures basically used the same boots, so to differentiate Blackbeard I took the boots from a True Heroes/Chap Mei pirate captain. Then I put them on WWE Build N Brawl legs - Deuce I believe. I'm glad I hoarded a bunch of these back when KB was closing.
Lastly I added some paint detail and my Blackbeard was complete!

![[Piratres IV: Jack Sparrow] I'm a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and while I was excited that Jakks would be making 4" figures, I was a bit disappointed with their initial offerings. So I went to work.
First up is everyone's favorite rogue, the charismatic and enigmatic Captain Jack Sparrow!
There was lots to love about Jakks' Jack, but he was definitely lacking some things to make him worthy of the name. I kept the head and torso. I added arms from the Indiana Jones line. I used WWE legs to add articulation and then transplanted the Jakks boots.
I also adjusted Jack's head a bit. I removed the hair, shaved down the head and replaced the hair so it would sit a bit lower and make his head look less enormous. Finally I did a full repaint and here's the end result.

The dreads are made from Caron Simply Soft Quick yarn. Body was given a tan base coat after a base coating of Modge Podge. The tatoo was drawn onto excess clear sticker paper, put on Jack's arm, and enhanced with acrylic paint. Jack's clothes were all done by hand after extensive research and screencapping. Will's shirt was modified into Jack's. The compass was is a scaled down model of a 1:1 paper model and actually opens. The weapons were all modified. The original Zizzle boots were repainted. The majority of Jack's beads are hand-made as are his rings and palm glove which are removable. Jack is as screen accurate as possible. Hidden detail: in a deleted scene from Curse of the Black Pearl, Jack shows Elizabeth scars on his chest and right arm- I included those scars on my Jack.

After I sculptrd the belt and make the parts with leather and rubber, the low part of Samurai armature protection was made with Leather sinthetic and I glue over a web from anything. The hat was made with putty epoxy and I copy (previously I cover the head with light oil to take off easy the putty with from the head) the top of the head of Sparrow inside the hat to fill perfectly, after I modeled the top of the hat and I added the feather made in vinil tape. Once the figure and base were completed they were painted using Vallejo, Reaper and GW paints.
