![[John Mcclane] Not really sure if this qualifies as a concept or not. Originally I was aiming to make John McClane from the first movie, but finally remembered he actully had hair in the original Die Hard. Well, I'm just recently learning anything about sculpting so I wasn't ready to attempt hair yet. So I went ahead and finished him, and actually kinda like how he came out. I gave him a full drybrush of blood, but specifically started by just drybrushing the bottom of his feet.](userimages/customs/36500/36181-1.jpg) John Mcclane Die Hardby DravenheartNot really sure if this qualifies as a concept or not. Die Hard in my opinion is essential Christmas viewing, so i got my lazy arse motivated and finally made an articulated McClane for my collection. About time aswell, it isn't a party without the man himself.
Sprit body- torso resculpted
NECA McClane head and feet
Fodder arms
Itty Bitty watch sculpted
Paint

![[John Mcclane] ...He is John Mcclane from DieHard, I don´t like the original figure from NECA (maybe the only one on the market)so I made a different version... I used many parts for this one, legs from Candyman and torso from Al Simmons by Mcfarlane, Head from Hartigan by Neca, etc... Painted and reworked totally!!!... Hope you like him... ![[John Mcclane] I have tried this one a few times and I'm fairly happy with this one. Used a tri gate head I then sculpted on the hair, torso is from a roc aqua-viper officer that came with the mantis attack craft, legs are cobra commander, feet are indy warrior and arms are from star wars comic 2 pack lumiya and luke, with the right hand coming fom star wars comic 2 pack mara jade and luke. The accessories are from die hard palz except the pistol which is joe. However, once I found the Colonel Quatrich figure I noticed it looked quite a bit like Bruce Willis. I added some hair, repainted him (even painting his irises, a first for me)and I loved the fact that the figure had dog-tags because it was perfect for a badge. Guns come from a Terminator Salvation figure and the Captain America/Nick Fury 2-Pack. This isn't based on any movie scene, just my ideal McClane figure. I may go and make another body with bare feet, but I don't know.](userimages/customs/19000/18736-1.jpg) John Mc Clane Die Hardby Rollo TamasiI decided I wanted a John McClane in Movie Master scale a while back but never took any step towards it. ![[John McClane] This is essentially a "City Hero" figure, made by an obscure Japanese Toy Company. The problem is, though advertised as a 12" figure, he's actually closer to 10", and very small in stature. So I found another good headsculpt of Bruce, a dragon body, and although it may not look like it, set out on maticulously painting his "battle damage". The police barricade I picked up from some second-hand 12" line.](userimages/customs/1500/1114-1.jpg) John McClane Die Hardby ash16This is essentially a "City Hero" figure, made by an obscure Japanese Toy Company. He now has a badge, more guns and a few more authentic details as seen in the Die Hard trillogy (Die Hard 4.0 movie coming soon in 2006) I think I worked out the few issues I had with the old one. I've also added back some blood, but in more appropriate places as seen in the early stages of Die Hard one.](userimages/customs/500/395-1.jpg) Unscathed John McClean Die Hardby Will TurnerI made a few revisions to the old, bloody version of the John McClane figure. ![[John McClane] This is Bruce Willis as he appeared in the Die Hard films. I've always wanted to do this one, but I had to wait for a figure with a good Bruce Willis head. This looks like it was easy, but there was a major head compatability issue between Hartigan and Marv, and needles to say color to be dealt with. I did all of the facial hair and dirt and oil smudging effects, which were I guess the hardest part. I really like how he turned out and he was an awesome custom to work on.
The only thing missing as of yet is the LAPD detective badge around his neck, for that, i'll use a die cast sheriff or policeman's badge from Michael's Arts and Crafts, my go to store for accessories in a figure scale that normally wouldn't be included with commercial action figures (Beer cans, Beer bottles, cigars, playing cards, etc.)
More customs coming soon!](userimages/customs/500/391-1.jpg) John McClane Die Hardby Will TurnerThis is Bruce Willis as he appeared in the Die Hard films. I've always wanted to do this one, but I had to wait for a figure with a good Bruce Willis ...11 comments | |
