![[Dr. Fate] Ok...Ok...I was a child of the 70's and grew up with Mego figures and as basic as they were by today's standards they will always have a special place in my heart. I even collected and loved the DC Retro line Mattel put out...well they pulled the plug on that line....so as a customizer I've been going through my parts bid and with a little time and effort I've been continuing my own collection. Today is my version Dr.Fate - on a Mattel Retro base body...a head from Dr Mego...all custom painted. Add some boots and body suit also from DR. Mego's store, from some parts from an old Vison figure from the FC line. I sculpted his amulet...and made and painted the glove sleeves to match my helmet and hand/amulet paint and you have a Mego Dr. Fate that should have been! BTW...I had heard that Dr. Fate was going to be the next wave of figures in the DC Retro line Mattel was putting out until they canceled it.](userimages/customs/48000/47767-1.jpg) Dr. Fate | ![[Hawkman] Ok...Ok...I was a child of the 70's and grew up with Mego figures and as basic as they were by today's standards they will always have a special place in my heart. ![[Nathan Drake from Uncharted 2] Hot Toys TrueType Base body - Custom poured resin head painted and sealed with Dul-Cote - Shirt and Jeans and under shirt are all aftermarket pieces that I weathered and detailed, custom made belt buckle, boots are Toy City and repainted then weathered for detail. Necklace is just a plain cord and the ring is custom made from a rivet head, Gun Rig is leather like and then weathered, gun and clips are after market. I also made a custom made 20 page leather like cover Drake's journal. Honestly he looks as if he jumped off the screen. These will be for sale over on eBay (marshallmade25)and my web site. My turn around time to make these is about 3-4 weeks. Thanks for looking! I complete repainted the head, sealed everything in Testor's Dul-Cote, modified a DC DIRECT body to accept the neck post, re-sewn the outfit to fit, new after market shoes, painted glove hands sealed with a gloss clear...and in the end I had an amazing Uncle Sam in scale with the DC Direct 13" Figures. I also made these in a regular 12" scale on either BBI or TTL body. Thanks for looking be sure to Friend me on Facebook "Marshall Made Collectibles" to see all my figures...or stop by my website to see my stuff for sale. ![[Sherlock Holmes] Sherlock holmes in his purple and red robe. The base head is from Dragon but I resculpted all his facial features...his nose, lips, chin, even the ears and part of the hair line. I wish the my Camera picked up the details of paint because you can't really see all the wash tones I used in his face...including faint dark circles around the eyes to the hint of redness on the nose and on the tips of his ears....all the way to the track mark scars on his lower arms (which I didn't take any pictures of)....yes Shelock had a bit of a drug problem for those that didn't know. He comes in laced up brown leather shoes that have been weathered, socks, twill/tweed pants, white shirt with custom buttons, his famous red robe with purple piping, leather belt with metal belt buckle, wooden violin with bow, and of course his pipe....all on a TTL body, which is on a Cal-Tek Custom Hot Toys type stand/base. Great iconic character. Thanks for looking! X was made with a Dragon base body and head that I modified with his trade mark scar under the mask. Mask was hand sewn then painted to get his famous red X on it then red cross stitch work down the back of it. The neck collar was made from red vinyl then individual little metal loops were sewn to it and finally a metal pad lock was made to hang off the front and center loop. The body suit was hand sewn and the gloves/gauntlets are black vinyl with the red cross stitches in place, same for his trunks/cod-piece....and the boots are after market but re-done with black eyelets by me so I could thread the laces with the red lace pattern from the comics (and yes I'm so anal the the exact number of red x's that appear in the comic are what appear on his mask, his gloves, cod piece, and boots...the devil is in the details) and finally a red distress torn up cape finishes the figure. ![[The Killing Joke Arkham Asylum Joker] Custom Resin head on a TTL body - head is hand cast, filled, sanded, then hand painted then sealed with Dul-Cote to protect the finish. The Orange Jumpsuit is after market but completely revamped to mark it a prison/asylum jumpsuit. Includes custom lettering and number. White t-shirt, socks, Leather like boots with laces, hands custom painted including nail beds, brown leather belt with hand cuffs. Was trying to capture the feel and the look for the begining of The Killing Joke (Alan Moore and Brian Bolland masterpiece) when Batman is trying to talk to the Joker in his cell.](userimages/customs/43500/43105-1.jpg) The Killing Joke Arkham Asylum Joker | ![[Brother Bones] This figure many people haven't heard of...it is Brother Bones (started out Brother Grim but had to change his name due to copyright issues)...it is from the mind of Ron Fortier who has put out a novel (two if you count the re-release under the new name) in the same vain of classic pulp character's like the Spider and The Shadow. Brother Bones is actually a man brought back from the dead to fight the good fight against the corrupt....think Walking Dead meets The Shadow. Anyway very striking figure made on a DC Direct base body, completely custom head (under the mask is a zombie type rotting face) with a re-sculpted skull mask. Weathered trench coat (dirt, blood, and bullet holes a-plenty), fully weather black suit and white blood stained shirt and black tie, black belt, socks, weathered leather like boots with laces, gloved hands, two modified 45's (not in any of the pics I chose), with a weathered felt flop hat a top of his nugget. If you are a fan of pulps you should give it a try...](userimages/customs/43500/43046-1.jpg) Brother Bones |
![[Jon Sable Freelance] Mike Grell's Jon Sable: Freelance was one of my favorite comics from the 80's. The beautiful art, the James Bond type stories...in fact I think Jon Sable was one of the first Mature Title comics I ever read...which for its time was extremely well written. The fact Mike Grell wrote and drew almost every issue of the original run also use to amaze me. Anyway on to the figure.. This honestly was a quick kit bash but turn out well. A body from Dragon models...a customized Dragon head few epoxy sculpted areas and a total repaint and I had Jon's face looking right at me. The mask if you read the book was never a real mask...but ashes of his dead wife and children when he first wore this (battle mask) in Africa...and later black make up when he wore the outfit I have the figure wearing here. The black jumpsuit is after market along with the boots, belts (with gold round belt buckle, and holster, gloved hands painted and sealed. Also included his iconic modified broom handle Mauser pistol whic](userimages/customs/43500/43045-1.jpg) Jon Sable Freelance | ![[Zorro - Guy Williams] Guy Williams Disney Zorro - figure is on a dragon/BBi base body - custom resin head in the likeness of Guy William - After market shirt and pants, cape and belt hand sewn, sword and scabbard are after market pieces as well as the boots, gloves are repainted Dragon gloved hands, hat is hand made stretched felt over a form (all hand made and tooled just like they make full scale hats) - hand painted head then sealed with Dul-Cote by Testors - eyes and mouth given that wet look with gloss clear, mask hand made as well. Head is a resin recast/re-sculpt...the head and body were painted to match with shadows and highlights added to make the muscles pop. Really want to take another stab at this figure with the new muscular bodies that are now available on the market. Pants and Shirt and boots were picked up from Monkey Depot (one of my favorite shops)..shirt of course was torn to match the classic pulp covers. Figure is a classic and a favorite of mine. I have made like 7 of these so far for collectors. Thanks for looking! ~ Jase](userimages/customs/43000/42995-1.jpg) Doc Savage the Man of Bronze |
![[Tarzan Lord of the Apes] Tarzan Lord of the Apes....made with an ACI body (because of the hidden ankle joint) I picked the scared body because it looks like claw marks on his chest. I used a Hot Toys head that I repainted to match the bodies skin tone...then painted the hair black with multiple tones, and repainted the head's eye color. Under the loin cloth I actual made leather under pants with cross stitching on the sides to make it look rough, the loin cloth is made from a plush leopard fabric which gave the garment a fur type texture. The belt is made from the same leather I made his under pants. The scabbard has be re-painted and textured with a cross pattern. The knife was re-painted and then the handle/hilt wrapped in thinly cut leather strips. Added a spear from Zoloworld's Skeleton Warrior figure...really think this turned out extremely well. Not a hard custom to make compared to my other figures. Hope you like him! I make a real metal ring with faux jewel for the figures left hand. Head is solid hand cast resin and then air brushed and finished off with Testor's Dul-Cote to seal the paint. I then use a wet clear coat to make the eyes more life like which I also do in any color my customer may want. These figures are available through eBay (MarshallMade25) and at my own website.
