Not happy at the time, but I got looking at some stuff, noticed a Legends Fury on the shelf, and thought, “Why not?” After about 30 minutes with a dremel, a SW Mace Windu figure, Sabretooth's trenchcoat, a fine point black sharpie, and some electrical tape, I give you my small Joes size Ultimates Nick Fury! ![[Female Knight] Now, it’s no “chick in chain mail”, but I still like the way it looks, even though it’s a “simple” head change. I say “simple” because these 1/18 figures have more different styles of neck posts than Dragon has produced 1/6 WWII German figures! Heck, Star Wars figures almost do that by themselves. So after fabricating a suitable neck post, out of the barrel from a knock-off .50 cal machine gun, here she is- a Star Wars Mara Jade head on a AoD knights body.](userimages/customs/7000/6631-1.jpg) Female Knight | ![[Dragon Keeper] Base figure is a Build n' Brawl Undertaker. ![[Sir Sao Feng] These guys look really neat as is, but since I had multiples, I automatically had to start tinkering. The head pops off pretty easily. Continued heat allows the helmet to eventually be pried off, as well as the chain mail “cowl”. The biggest problem with it, is the fact that the actual head is not very large, so I just cut off the shoulder section. Then I dremeled out the helmet so that it would fit on the POTC Sao Feng head I transplanted onto the knight body. Anyway, he’s a little different, plus, he can take his helmet off.](userimages/customs/7000/6529-1.jpg) Sir Sao Feng Miscby GrampsThese guys look really neat as is, but since I had multiples, I automatically had to start tinkering. I picked the trooper because the joints are black, so I figured anything that didn’t get hit with paint, wouldn’t be a distraction, might even add as far as in-between the plate armor. I had to cut the neck post off the clone trooper with the dremel, but when I did, there was a “spot” that was dead center between the shoulders that was perfect for lining up a drill bit to make the hole for the knight’s head, which just popped off his body. Then I dry brushed some black to try and get some depth, attached the knight’s belt onto the new more articulated knight and here’s what I came up with. Seems like he may be a tiny bit on the slim side when standing next to the Chap Mei knight, but I figure I’ll take it for the increased articulation.](userimages/customs/6500/6351-1.jpg) 1/18 Medieval Knight Star Warsby GrampsI do wish the Clone Troopers had some sort of ball joint at the hip, so that he could sit a horse better, but he sits as well as the Chap Mei figure t...1 comments |
