I never liked that 'swivel' action figure this Optimus had, plus I really hated his altmode (it's supposed to look like a truck, yet it looks like a robot pretending to be a truck). At the same time his botmode looks pretty nice, so I could not bring myself to throw him away completely. Feeling the need to make myself a quick and easy custom I finally took that poor Optimus and started working on him.
First thing I did was to glue his mid section together (disabling his annoying action feature) and after that I just started painting. Lots of blacks, lots of reds and lots of metal. Basically that is the majority of work on this custom.
To differentiate him some more, I gave him this:
- a Decepticon logo on his left shoulder (some decal I had lying around that accidentally had exactly the right size)

This miniature diorama is based on the cover of the first issue of IDW Publications' All Hail Megatron comic book series. It stands about 4 to 5 inches tall, kinda small and making it difficult to capture all details on a photo.
I started with a wooden base from the crafts store and I covered it with parts of small and broken Transformers from my fodder box. I demolished them somewhat more to really create a battlefield feeling, covered with metal scrap and Transformer bodies. I glued it all together and attached it to the base. Among the victims are Bumblebee and Jazz, but to even it out a little there are also parts of Decepticon Blackout in there. On top of that pile, I added the Attacktix Optimus Prime figure, cut off his head and cut off his arm. Also in there are the remains of a Marvel Figure Factory Hulk diorama (the burning tank). Anyway, inspired by drawings by Bootleg and oICEMANo (you can easily find them through Google as you search for 'Dragon Blaster Skeletor' images) I made this.
Recipe:
- 200x Skeletor body + Havoc Staff
- cape from a Desert Knight Batman figure
- Dragon from one of those $1 dollar Dragon eggs in a discount store
- Vintage Dragon Blaster Skeletor chain
- paint, Aves Apoxie Sculpt
Schulpted Skeletors armor, used half of a plasic BIC pen to create that hole where the chain goes through and sculpted over that. Gave everything a complete new paint job.
The cape is removable, but I prefer to leave it on. The reason I used a Desert Knight Batman cape, is that it has an 'opening' in the back, so you can still use the peg that is on Skelly's back to move his arm. So his 'action feature' is still intact. Usually I take weeks (or even months) to finish a custom. But after an extremely pleasant experience with a custom I threw together in little less than an hour earlier this month, the goal was to do a quick job again and finish one in a day. Mission accomplished, here is Freddy Krueger!

I bought the Cobra Commander ages ago to use his body as a Joker figure, but when I removed the coat and the helmet that was on his face, he instantly reminded me of Freddy Krueger.
