![[John Lennon (1965)] I was a bit shocked to see that there's only one Beatle custom on this site, and it's of the great Paul McCartney. My favorite Beatle has always been John, so for this custom I popped in Help! and used it as a reference for my first John Lennon (I've got three more headsculpts for him, and one of each other Beatle). Head was a sanded down Thug head resculpted entirely (the only one I tried doing this for, as I then started using Colonel Quattrich's Avatar MM head, which I'd strongly recommend for others who want to make a Lennon). Body was a pretty simple repaint aside from the sculpting on of his red turtleneck. Guitar is from Bendos figure. The recipe for the doctor was simple. I had a few leftover Gotham City Thugs (I make a lot of guys in suits) and sanded down the head until all that was left was the ears and chin and a smooth head. I then sculpted on his face, complete with aviator shades and a cigarette (in his trademark Targard filter) and then got to making some accessories. Pictured are his removable white driving bucket hat made from a Plan-B soldier's helmet, a fly swatter (also from a Plan-B accessory), beer cans (Hellboy), a gun from The Comedian and a hand sculpted Vegas visor. Not pictured, a grapefruit and hunting knife, some suitcases and newspapers (if anyone knows where to get a nice to-scale typewriter, please post in comments).

So the first thing I did was sand down the thug head, leaving nothing but a ball with two eye sockets. I painted the eyes the same way, bloodshot, but this time made him look out to the side. After finishing the sculpting of the head and painting, I decided he looked too clean, even with his makeup in smears. So I took some acrylic and covered his face and hair so he looked sweaty like in the scene.
Next came the body. The idea of making that shirt had me so nervous I postponed it for a few weeks, until finally manning up and getting to it. I cut off the area of the suit jacket where the wrists covered the hands, then sanded, so he looked like he was in a dress shirt instead. I cut off the tie and sculpted his collar, then resculpted in a tie. FYI, in case you may have been wondering, that background is from the Cloverfield Figure box. This joker's head was an experiment that spawned many re makes of mine. I took a Gotham City Thug head and sanded it down, then sculpted a new head with nothing but the original eyes, in this case.
The gun comes from a Plan-B soldier, the bazooka comes from the new Movie Master Joker, the jacket and feet come from the original Movie Master Joker, and the rest of his body is a repainted/resculpted Thug. To get the eyes the way they are, I used the tutorial on eye painting, but seeing that his makeup provided a black outline, I instead made my first layer red to give him a bloodshot look. For those who haven't seen the film, this is Christopher Johnson of District 9, a "Prawn" who befriends the MNU agent and fugitive, Wikus Van de Merwe. His body is entirely Blackheart, his vest cut from Hellboy's trenchcoat and painted red. His face was sculpted onto the very dremmelled down Blackheart head with greenstuff and some bug toy pieces for tentacles and antennae. For any other people interested in trying the custom, make sure you use Blackheart. I have to thank Sabretooth for his custom, because that figure was the best base. As shown, he's taller than the other figures, as he should be, and all the joints are perfect. The bandages are masking tape with dirty acrylic and glue. I also made some guns from cut up Avatar, Terminator, and Star Wars guns. I noticed how large it's forehead was and how the hair was sticking straight up and I noticed it didn't look that different from Mr. Blonde. Mr. White of Reservoir Dogs has been made from a Gotham City Thug movie master, ceramic porcelain and greenstuff. The head was made as follows:
I made a ball of Ceramic porcelain, shaped out a chin and pushed up slightly at the bottom to make it a basic skull like shape. Then I let it dry. Once dried, I sculpted the features on with greenstuff mixed with ceramic porcelain (a method I learned to conserve my greenstuff, which otherwise goes fast). Then I painted and let dry. Once that was done, I dremeled out the underneath of his head, as you would for making a peg jointed head into a ball jointed head, and dremeled the ball joint. The tricky thing to remember is to then put greenstuff inside the outer rim of the ball joint, otherwise the ceramic porcelain will be to hard to put anything inside.

I took the new Black Canary DCUC figure and took the first step of pulling her hair off (very easy, hardly glued on) and sculpting on a bigger nose to make it look more like Uma Thurman. I modeled it after her outfit in the opening scene where she fights Vernita Green, a personal favorite fight scene. I sculpted on all of her hair, the pony tail is a sculpted over plastic spider toy's leg, and then did a leg swap. The reason for that was that, first off, Beatrix wasn't wearing pants like that in the scene and secondly that they were awful legs; no crotch joints making it impossible to do good poses for Kung Fu. I gave her an old Scarecrow Movie Master's leg. Unfortunately her hands are closed fists so she can't hold any knife. Other than that, I'm fairly happy with it, just not the ending paint job. ![[Two-Face] This isn't a new idea on the site, but it's easily my favorite custom I've made because of the long story.
It started when I saw benstoys custom Two-Face made w/ Captain America's head, I had that head, so I made it. After about a year of retooling the head, I got a thug body and went through the long process of giving him new hands (not knowing of the boiling method yet).
All sculpting done with a package knife, for I didn't own a dremel. Then the new method of making Two-Face with the amazing new head came out, so I shelled out the cash for a dremel, made this head, and gave a final repaint of the suit.
Scarecrow's hands and 4" Indiana Jones gun repainted silver w/ black handle. Scarecrow's finger goes right into the hole. Perfect fit. I'd recomend it.
