![[Vulture] I normaly have a rule when it comes to customising; "I only make what I can't buy".
That means no characters or costumes that have had official 6" scale releases as in the
past I've spent weeks on certain characters only to aquire the official Marvel Legends
version soon after, making my handmade customs look weak in comparason.
But with this figure I had to break my own rule as the ML Vulture was just proving too
expensive for what would be my bazzillionth Spidey villain, especialy when conceptually
he just seemed like such an easy custom.
The entire body belonged to Falcon, and the head is an ML Loki with the helmet removed
and scalp and ears sculpted on with Milliput. The crest was just made with a thick ring
of Milliput that I picked at for about an hour with a pen.
The painting was done entirly with Citadel paint (can't recommend them enough after
having early customs ruined by inferior paints), with a dark green base, lighter green

of my miscellanious alternate reality figures, and Mimic seemed like the most fun one
to start with. I wanted to really show off his power-mimicry, so I decided to show him
exhibiting the powers of Iceman, Angel, Colossus, Wolverine & Cyclops.
The base figure was an ML Angel figure, with ML Iceman's right arm, and a set of
Wolverine's claws. The goggles were from a DC Elseworlds The Bat.
The head required a little resculpting to open up the facemask and add in his goatee,
and the goggles were trimmed down front and back and attached with a drop of superglue
at the back of the head so they can snuggly slide up and down.
The paintjob is all pretty self explanatory, and since it uses the Angel torso the
wings are completly detatchable. I've toyed with the idea of using cut up transparent
plastic to add some ice claws on the the right arm, but work's getting quite heavy so I

![[Dormammu] I really wanted a Dormammu figure for ages, but neither Toybiz or Hasbro went anywhere near him.
I started off using the ML Legendary Riders Series Vengeance and cut off his leather jacket. To my dismay he didn't have anything even close to a proper torso underneath, so I sculpted it from scratch using Milliput. At least all that life drawing at Art School wasn't completely wasted.
I carved off the spikes from the knuckles and boots, and also the boney wristbands. I slowly carved away at the face till I was happy with the shape and expression, and smoothed it over with milliput. I extended his head flame so it engulfed his head using cut up pieces of one of Iron Fist's flames.
His 'loincloth' was cut from foam rubber sheets and layered up, and the skirt from the bottom half of the coat of a DC Elsewords The Bat figure (you'll see that figure being put to good use in 2 more customs I'll upload later). I managed to reuse Vengeance's ribs for his collar and the flame in his hand came fro](userimages/customs/21000/20831-1.jpg) Dormammu Marvel Legendsby CoreyVandalI really wanted a Dormammu figure for ages, but neither Toybiz or Hasbro went anywhere near him.

Base figure was Longshot as I had about 3 of him lying around. Started by cutting off the hair and collar, and swapping out those annoying three-fingered hands for some ones off a random Movie Mr Fantastic. The jacket came off Xorn and of course the cloak was from Moon Knight. I altered the edges and neck of the cloak with a scalpel, and detailed it using two small clasps off a Movie Dr Doom and a bit of string.
The hair was sculpted from scratch using Milliput.
Painted entirely with Citadel paints. The leather jacket was painted using a dull yellow base that I drybrushed light brown, then gave it a heavy brown wash. The jeans were a light blue finished off with a dark blue wash, and the cloak was painted dark red and drybrushed with blood red.
The shotgun came from an ML Face-Off Jigsaw, just until I can cast](userimages/customs/21000/20822-1.jpg) The Hood Marvel Legendsby CoreyVandalThis one was sitting half done for ages as I was waiting to see if Hasbro were going to announce him for the new 2-packs, but alas, not such luck, so ...1 comments |
![[Morlun] This one was pretty easy once I found the right base figure (thanks to Shinobitron for the idea). I'd been wanting to do this custom ever since I got a Ripclaw figure and couldn't believe how perfect the head would be.
I stuck the Ripclaw head on the Movie Joker body but it didn't quite work, seemed out of proportion somehow, so I extended the neck by about 8-9mm and widened the shoulders by about 3-4mm each. I also applied the tiniest bits of sculpt to the bridge of his nose and his chin just to make him more comic accurate. Then I shaved down the lining on his gloves so they could pass for hands, and sculpted the cuffs and cravat.
After that it was a simple paintjob using Citadel paints. I applied a very light wash around the eyes, cheeks and fingers, lined the creases on his trousers (looks more delicate in natural light than the pics), and lightly drybrushed the cravat for a velvet effect.](userimages/customs/19000/18806-1.jpg) Morlun Spider-Manby CoreyVandalThis one was pretty easy once I found the right base figure (thanks to Shinobitron for the idea). I really wanted the BAF Ares, but seemed to have amassed most of the series loose with no parts, so rather than searching for it whole I decided to take up the unenviable task of sculpting him. I decided to use the original BAF as a guide since it captured his current Dark Avenger outfit so perfectly.
Started with the ML Hercules, and preceded to slice off the skirt, hair, beard & chin and leg straps (almost lost a finger doing this!). After this I ended up sculpting him almost head to toe. First I reconstructed his chin and mouth, and sculpted the arm details, then legs and boots, and finally his chest plate and helmet (Ughh, that wasn't fun).
Then I painted the leather bits brown and the metal bits silver, used a dark brown wash on the leather and drybrushed with a dull yellow. Then used a heavy black wash over the metal, followed by a thin silver wash.
Then came the skin and details, and gave him the axe](userimages/customs/19000/18798-1.jpg) Ares - Dark Avengers Marvel Legendsby CoreyVandalOk, this is one of my most recent customs, and the one I'm most proud of. ![[Iron Man - Heavy Duty] This is another one of my early customs. Not so proud of it, but he fills out my Hall of Armour nicely.
Used one of those crappy SMC Ultimate Rhino figures, and shaved off the horns and a couple of other bits and pieces.
Sculpted the mask and chest repulsor, and painted it with Citadel Foundation Mechrite Red and Iyamden Darksun (yellow).
I gave him a wash, but he looked way to dull and dirty, so rather than repaint him I used the tiniest dab of silver enamel paint on my finger and massaged it all over the surface of the figure. This gave everything a more metalic shine, and also highlighted a few raised bits in silver, making him look a bit more battle worn.](userimages/customs/19000/18776-1.jpg) Iron Man - Heavy Duty Iron Manby CoreyVandalThis is another one of my early customs. Just used the HoM Hulk as a base, painted it in red acrylic (sadly used cheap stuff since I didn't know any better, but I'm really regretting it now.) and used Citadel Foundation Mordian Blue for the jeans.
Sculpted the hair, but stupidly used enamel paint on it, so although it'd dried fine I lost a lot of detail.
Gave him quite a heavy wash so I decided to dry brush him with a brighter red.
The gun I believe started life as an Action Man handgun.
So there you go, my first attempt at customising. Made a few mistakes, but it's all a learning process, and the figure ended up looking okay in the end I think.](userimages/customs/19000/18775-1.jpg) Red Hulk W/ Gun Marvel Legendsby CoreyVandalHey there, this was my first custom from a few months back.
